Here's how you can transition your skills from graphic design to UX/UI design successfully.
Now that you've learnt your way around a tool through reverse-engineering existing designs. Start creating conceptual (or "fake") work, document some rational behind your design decisions to demonstrate you have a process and show off some of your graphic design skills here too. There's nothing wrong with "fake" work. In fact, it will actually help you flex your skills as a designer and show off your true creativity and capabilities without constraints of a brief. Presenting fake work can actually be a more genuine representation of your talent. You can also de-badge existing work and build a case study around it because you've been there and already done it—just try to remember how and why you did it and write that stuff down!

Here's how you can transition your skills from graphic design to UX/UI design successfully.
If it's your first tool, watch a crash course on YouTube of it to get a feel of where stuff is. Layers, Type, Styling, Shapes, Colours etc. Get familiar with shortcuts from day one. You'll save so much time from day two.

Here's how you can transition your skills from graphic design to UX/UI design successfully.
You're going to need to get REALLY familiar with ONE tool, and the rest of them will be an easier learning curve. Competition between design tools is high and designers are always interested in the next flashy thing. So to attract designers who are looking to jump ship, the transition needs to be super easy (time is money for freelancers especially). That's why a lot of UX tools have very similar UI and you'll instinctively know what's where. The best way to learn a new tool quickly is to reverse-engineer existing designs. You'll find yourself Googling or YouTubing tutorials on how to do X Y Z and that's when you'll learn as and when you need. Dive deep in. I did this when transitioning from Sketch to Figma.

Here's how you can transition your skills from graphic design to UX/UI design successfully.
As a graphic designer your initial focus is naturally going to be on making interfaces beautiful—because that's been your strength. But UX/UI goes hand in hand, so this is where you need to put some extra hours in to level up in learning the theoretical side of UX—doesn't have to be in written format—because let's get real, most of us as designers are visual or kinaesthetic learners. You can watch YouTube videos on UX theory e.g. crash courses on topics like 'Accessibility', 'Usability', 'Layout' etc. I come from the same, graphic design background and this is how I did it.

I obtained presidency when the society was failing to live up to its members’ expectations and financially, in minus figures. Since October 2014, I have built a hard-working and strongly motivated committee that has helped me reform the society’s fortunes.
Organised UK’s biggest Pakistani Society charity event “Yaadein 2015”, single-handedly obtained sponsorships, built a network of strong business relationships, gained global exposure and received personal commendation and endorsement from celebrities like Amir Khan.
"Yaadein" - originally an Aston Paksoc brand, we felt it was the right time to take it a step further by introducing the umbrella of NPSS, which is the National Pakistani Student Society run by myself and my co-chairman. Through our network, we involved 5 other universities from the Midlands, presenting Yaadein 2016 as the UK's biggest ever PakSoc collaboration.
We maximised our fundraising for SOS Children's Villages of Pakistan as well as providing an excellent opportunity for students of various ethnic backgrounds, cultures and societies to connect with their peers of other educational institutes and the wider public. Due to our reach and exposure, we attracted sponsorship from businesses across the nation.
"Yaadein 2017" - We only believe in progress. So, sky's the limit.
