Gallup’s State of the Global Workplace report 2024 is out, and there’s a crucial call to action for UK based people leaders - only 10% of your workforce is engaged. Gallup estimates that low levels of engagement costs the global economy $8.9 trillion — or 9% of global gross domestic product. The disengagement trend inside companies ripples out to wider society, and affects macroeconomic performance. Of companies with high engagement, they found the following business results - a 68% increase in employee wellbeing; a 23% increase in profitability and a 13% increase in productivity. Typically, re-org's create uncertainty, stall a business in the short term and cause deep cultural issues like lack of trust. 3 organizational design principles that can help make a significant leap forward, with some quick wins and positive momentum: 1.  Share the vision - give people the inspiration to change. 2. Start with mindset - focus on a ONE TEAM mentality ("we're in this together"), with one way of working, role modelled from the top down 3.  Enable the primary behaviors - dock the change to a fundamental business process, ideally one that relies on cross-functional collaboration We're helping so many of our clients to enable positive, sustainable change. I assume, many would agree that it is an imperative to build a #collective in a space (teams, organisation, groups etc)... as this exhibits the aspects of being 'one unit' that is #collaborative and #inclusive. However, I wonder to build a collective what would matter that will have the utmost impact - A dialogue or a discussion? Or perhaps, How are these two different? If a group engages in a dialogue and another group engages in a discussion, what will be similar and different? What do you think?

Requiring everyone to be in the office all the time led to the “great resign”, where employees used to the freedom of choice during Covid voted with their feet to find less dictatorial employers. I subscribe to many newsletters because I love to learn and stay current on trends so I can best support my clients. If you follow me, you know I've been learning about Psychological Safety. This is my favourite newsletter (thanks Tom Geraghty!) focusing on the topic . Employee wellbeing is a common concern for employers. So they are implementing benefits that contribute to wellbeing, which is great. However, there's something many organizations are still overlooking. It’s really encouraging to see how foresight is rapidly emerging as an essential tool and a key priority in strategic planning. But, honestly, I still find that many organisations and strategy teams turn to foresight looking for 𝘤𝘦𝘳𝘵𝘢𝘪𝘯𝘵𝘺 in uncertain times 🌪️ Not an ideal approach, if you ask me! Organisations 𝐬𝐡𝐨𝐮𝐥𝐝 𝐧𝐨𝐭 engage in foresight to look for certainty. Rather the opposite.
