What a great day with the participants of the London Health Accelerator! I had the privilege of leading a pitching skills session with some incredible founders working on transformative ideas. Here’s just a glimpse of the innovative projects they’re leading: 💡A memory app to help people with memory loss manage medicines, appointments, and memories. 💡Food-based social clubs for men, creating spaces to forge friendships, combat loneliness, and boost mental health. 💡Skills training for wheelchair users, empowering them to navigate their environment with confidence and independence. Thank you to all the founders for jumping in with bold pitches, active participation, and dancing to Gangnam Style with me—you were an absolute joy to work with! Best thing I heard in the session: “Pitching without slides feels so freeing and authentic!” Most frequently mentioned takeaway: “A structure really helps you stay on point”. Thank you Marta Zukowska for inviting me to run the session at the lovely premises of London & Partners. I can’t wait to see how the founders’ pitches shape up and shine at the grand finale in February.

"I'm just an average bloke." Not me, but the words of Adam Lacey earlier this year when we met to discuss menopause in the workplace and how companies can better support women at this time of life. He's anything but average but his point was he knew nothing about menopause, he didn't know how to broach the subject, nor what he should say or how he could support either with his colleagues or at home. And then he asked, "Could Adora do a Back to Basics webinar for men so they could come along and just learn a few things and ask the questions they have always wanted to but never have?" And actually, he's not the first man to ask us this. Over the past few years loads of wonderful men have told us they want to support and help but are unsure what this looks like. So I said, "Of course. And I'll invite my fantastic co-founder Ed Smith - four years ago he knew nothing about this either. But when he understood the scale of the problem he decided to do tech for good and has now built Adora's menopause platform (which has been nominated for two Awards this year) using all his AI engineering skills. I'll ask Dr Karen Morton too - she's a leading NHS women's health and Menopause expert and will take you through what you need to know and answer all your questions, big and small." In life, we're surrounded by networks—some lift us up, while others drag us down. Let's talk about the Poverty Network: a trio of characters—doomsayers, doubters and distractors. The Doomsayer: Always predicting the worst, they thrive on spreading fear and uncertainty. Pandemics, lockdowns—you name it, they've got a prediction for it. The Doubter: Constantly questioning your abilities, they'll tell you that you're not cut out for success. Like a small lion, they say, how can you rule the jungle? The Distractor: The worst of the bunch, they'll do anything to divert your focus. Whether it's governments, politicians, or influencers, they're all after their own agenda, not your success. To surge forward, you need laser-like focus. Cut out the distractions, silence the doubters, and ignore the doomsayers. Keep your eyes on the prize, and success will follow.
