  • Thank You for Joining Our Winter Investment Round Table A big thank you to all of the family offices who attended our Winter Investment Round Table last week at The Caledonian Club in Knightsbridge, London. We had insightful discussions on key market trends, led by Patrick Farrell, CIO of Charles Stanley , and a fresh perspective on high-yield investing from Julien Martin, Research Analyst at Polen Capital. Key Takeaways: From Patrick Farrell: • AI & Infrastructure: AI is not a bubble—at least not yet—and still has significant room for growth. However, critical infrastructure, including energy, digital systems, and manufacturing/robotics, will be essential to support AI's continued expansion. • US Market Dominance: The US remains the leader in global markets, driven by high productivity levels. This advantage makes it difficult for the UK and Europe to close the gap. • China’s Economic Challenges: For China to compete globally, major internal structural changes are needed. While progress is slow, there are signs of incremental reforms. From Julien Martin: • High-Yield Investing: Historical trends and current market conditions highlight the attractiveness of high-yield investments in terms of volatility versus returns. • Europe’s Edge: Europe offers a more favourable environment for high-yield investments, with better valuations and supportive market conditions. • Managing Defaults: Defaults shouldn't be feared if managed correctly. A strong understanding of company fundamentals, operational efficiencies, and the legal landscape can help investors extract value even in distressed situations. At WM Nexus, we curate exclusive roundtable discussions for UHNWIs, Family Offices, Wealth Managers, and Family Office Advisors. These events provide a platform for in-depth conversations with leading experts on the latest investment trends. #familyoffices #wealthmanagement #investmenttrends #highyield #macrotrends #marketoverview

  • We were delighted to host an investment breakfast last Wednesday in the beautiful setting of The In & Out (Naval and Military Club), St James’s, covering Agriculture, Food & Forestry. We were joined by our exclusive group of guests to hear the stories of Conservation Carpathia, AMERRA Capital Management, LLC and Warakirri Asset Management, on the importance of natural capital and how we invest for the future through agriculture and the natural environment. Key take-aways: •           Agriculture is the third biggest contributor to the global economy. In 2024, it is estimated to be worth approximately $14.36 trillion, up 8% from $13.27 trillion in 2023. Projections suggest the market will continue to expand, reaching $19.29 trillion by 2028, driven by increased demand due to global population growth and higher living standards. •           Whilst land availability for agriculture is either stagnant or decreasing in the United States and Europe, Brazil and Australia offer a wealth of opportunity for sustainable development: Brazil is a top 5 producer of 34 agriculture commodities and the world’s largest net agricultural exporter; Australia exports to over 100 countries as well as having a strong local market.  •           Agriculture and the food value chain provide a diversified set of opportunities, across different asset classes such as private debt and real assets, different geographies, different products (permanent crops, horticulture, livestock, etc) and services (inputs, supply chain, processing, etc). •            Investment in agriculture, when done correctly, offers a low volatility, uncorrelated solution that is recession and inflation protected. Thank you to all our guests and to Chris and Barbara Promberger, Craig Tashjian, Nancy Obler, Steve Jarrott and Conor Hayes for a wonderful event, and thank you to Laura Nasta for hosting us at the In and Out Club. #agriculture #forestry #conservation #naturalcapital #investment #realassets #sustainability #foodsecurity #carbonsequestration #carboncredits #regenerativeagriculture

  • “SMEs … can quickly convert working capital into jobs while supporting inclusive economic growth … WM Nexus Autumn Investment Trends Forum – Round Table Discussion Continuing the focus on small to medium sized businesses, but looking instead towards private markets, in our fourth Round Table Discussion, Hendrik Van Deventer, Co-CEO  of Advance Global Capital Ltd will tell us about “The Evolution of Social Finance, and SME Credit Solutions in Emerging Markets”. Advance Global Capital Ltd (AGC) believes that capital, when invested well, can be a force for good and works with investors who want measurable, positive impact that aligns with their values alongside good financial returns. Investing in small and medium businesses (SMEs) isn't just about money. It's also about bringing hope to underserved entrepreneurs. When these companies can access funding on fair terms, they have the confidence and ability to compete and thrive. AGC focuses on investing in SMEs because they can quickly convert working capital into jobs while supporting inclusive economic growth and creating more opportunities for women in communities around the world. Collectively, SMEs make up 99% of the business sector population and around 60% of business sector value-added. They remain challenging clients to reach as they generate smaller transactions and require different support than either micro or large businesses. This discussion will focus on: *The evolution of social finance in emerging markets, including investor expectations *Challenges in deploying SME credit solutions in emerging markets *Trends and opportunities in EM private credit Date: Tuesday 24 September 2024 Time: 13:30-19:30 BST Location: Mayfair, London The Forum is open for an exclusive selection of UHNWs, Single and Multi Family Offices and Wealth Managers.
