Earlier this month, Tysers caught up with one of our talented Energy Associate Directors, Karen Wheatley, who told us why she chose a career in insurance and what she loves about working at Tysers. What is your role and responsibility at Tysers? I assist the brokers with the production of contracts and premium worksheets, processing and issuing documentation. I am a point of contact for both clients and underwriters as well as internal colleagues. What do you like most about working at Tysers? I love the diversity of Tysers. No two days are the same. There is a real integration of teams which is a valuable source of knowledge and expertise. How did you get into insurance? A cliché – but I fell into insurance. I was working as a recruitment consultant before I started in the industry in 2001. I have never looked back. What is the technology product/application that is of most use to you? Whitespace – a digital platform for placing insurance risks. Although I’m a bit of a traditionalist and loved the way the market used to interact before placing platforms. If you could learn a new skill what would it be? I would love to learn to play an instrument, the piano or guitar… Do you have a favourite quotation? “You never know how strong you are until being strong is the only choice you have.” #TysersInsuranceBrokers #LifeAtTysers #InsuranceSolutions #EnergyInsurance

Tysers is delighted to be a sponsor of ElevateHER in celebration of International Women's Day. We look forward to attending this fantastic event at Lloyd's of London from 1pm today. Dive In Festival #ElevateHER #InternationalWomensDay #IWD2025
ElevateHER: From glass ceilings to open doors… join us in celebrating International Women’s Day 2025! 💜 We’ve teamed up with Dive In Festival, Lloyd's Gender Community, WTW, Tysers, Arch Insurance International, Everest and WeAreTheCity for this year’s International Women’s Day. We’ll explore empowering topics such as breaking ‘glass ceilings’, seizing new opportunities at any stage in your career and overcoming imposter syndrome. We’ll also focus on how we're all responsible for creating an inclusive industry where anybody can thrive, whilst managing barriers at different points of their lives. Together, we will recognise the importance of allies and the strength we gain from unity. Let’s come together, because together, we are stronger. We’re thrilled to have Anna Whitehouse, also known as ‘Mother Pukka’ (@mother_pukka on Instagram), join us as our keynote speaker. Anna was recently named number 10 in the 50 most influential women list by The Independent. Anna launched the ‘Flex Appeal’ campaign in 2015 to challenge outdated and inflexible working practices that disproportionately affect women. Anna’s campaign has evolved into a nationwide movement, culminating in a historic victory in 2024 when the Flexible Working Bill was passed into UK law. She’s also a Sunday Times best-selling author, weekly Radio show and podcast host, as well as a regular contributor to UK national newspapers including The Times, The Guardian and The Daily Mail. The event will then move into an interactive panel discussion and Q&A. Panellists to be announced soon. This is expected to be a 'sell out' event so register now: https://lnkd.in/eMguCQQ2
