Updates

  • 🚨BREAKING: Almost 1 in 5 people claiming Universal Credit and disability benefits have used a food bank in the last month. Hunger and hardship are already at record levels, and social security cuts risk pushing even more people to food banks. This shouldn't be the case in one of the richest countries in the world. Everyone should be able to afford to live with dignity. The UK Government must commit to an Essentials Guarantee, to make sure everyone can at the very least afford the essentials we all need like food, bills, and toiletries.

  • Building a future where no one needs a food bank to survive in the UK is no small task. 🤝 But with the support of partners like, IG Design Group UK and Polaris we know we can get there. Since 2019, they have been supporting us to provide food and practical help to people left without enough money to live on, and build the changes we need to end hunger in the UK. We want to say a huge thank you to IG Design Group and Polaris for their incredible support. 💚 #Charity #Foodbank

  • People turn to food banks when they don't have enough money to survive. Bills are going up, rents are sky high, and people can’t afford things like food and toiletries. Lots of people who need food banks are in-between jobs, have health conditions or are looking after loved ones. And some people are in work that doesn't pay enough to get by. Our social security system was created to protect us when we face situations like this - but right now it's falling short. We can fix this by updating it to make sure that everyone, at the very least, can afford the essentials. 💚

  • Want to donate to your local food bank, but not sure what to give? You can pick up a pre-packed donation bag at Tesco, which makes sure your local food bank gets exactly what they need! Each bag is filled with essential items that food banks often need, like tinned veggies, UHT milk and toothpaste. If you can, please pop one in your trolley, pay for it and drop it in the collection point when you’ve finished your Tesco shop. Don't delay, they're in-store until 30 August in England and Wales, and 10 August in Scotland and Northern Ireland. Thank you. 💚

  • A huge thank you to the 300 supporters from Vodafone who supported us with their first-ever dragon boat race! 🚣 💚 Their incredible fundraising will help us provide support to people left without enough money to survive on, and get one step closer to a future where no one needs to turn to a food bank to get by.

At the beginning of the month, 27 teams made up of VodafoneThree employees swapped their laptops for lifejackets and took to the Thames in aid of charity partner Trussell.   While only one team could come out on top, with almost £24,000 raised for charity, the real winner was the charity’s cause of ‘ending hunger together’. The partnership with Trussell falls under Vodafone’s long-running everyone.connected initiative, which aims to close the gap between those with internet access and those without it, by helping four million people and businesses cross the digital divide by 2025.   A huge thanks to everyone who took part or supported and to our wonderful Docklands Sailing & Watersports Centre for hosting. Time to get training for next year.

  • The remaining cuts to disability support are very concerning. But you have helped make huge improvements to the Welfare Bill. You sent 38,000 emails to MPs across the UK 👏 and this helped to achieve... - Removal of all cuts to PIP from the bill - Commitment from the UK government that any future changes to PIP will only happen after a review with disabled people - An increase to the basic rate of Universal Credit These changes will protect hundreds of thousands of disabled people from hunger and hardship. This would not have been possible without you. We will continue to push the government to create a social security system that provides just that - security 💚

  • ❗ This week, the UK government pushed through cuts to disabled people's social security. Here's what you need to know... The remaining cuts to Universal Credit will still be devastating. They risk pushing even more disabled people to food banks. We won't stop pushing the UK government to create a fair and compassionate social security system 💚

    • A photo of Keir Starmer in Parliament with a screenshot of a notes app on top. It reads:
Here's what you need to know about the Universal Credit bill...
1. The basic rate of Universal Credit (UC) will increase.
2. The health element of UC for new claimants will be cut from April 2026.
3. There won't be any cuts to PIP. Any changes will happen after a review with disabled people.
