A huge thank you to Paul, his family and everyone involved in their sponsored walk from Leeds United's Elland Road to Huddersfield Town's John Smith's Stadium on the final home game weekend of the season. Organised through their local junior football club and supported by their community, the event was held to give back after Paul's wife, Vanessa, was diagnosed with stage 4 EGFR exon 20 mutation NSCLC in July 2025. Paul shared how much support Vanessa received from our helpline team during an incredibly difficult time, and how important it was for them to do something to support others affected by lung cancer. Thank you for turning your experience into hope for others, and for helping us continue to provide information, support and advocacy for everyone impacted by lung cancer. 💙 #FundraisingHeroes #CommunitySupport #RoyCastleLungCancerFoundation #LungCancerAwareness

We are the only UK charity dedicated to helping everyone affected by lung cancer.
About us
Roy Castle Lung Cancer Foundation is the only UK lung cancer charity dedicated to helping everyone affected by the disease. Since 1990, when the charity was set up by Professor Ray Donnelly, we have funded millions of pounds of essential lung cancer research, looking for ways to detect the disease as early as possible and save lives. We support everyone affected by lung cancer – from diagnosis, through treatment, living with the disease and end of life care. We raise awareness, prevent future generations from getting it and challenge the misconceptions of lung cancer. We do all this so those diagnosed can live well with lung cancer for as long as possible.

💙🏃♂️ Running in memory of Aunty Lali 🏃♂️💙 After the heartbreaking loss of his beloved Aunty Lali in May, Ashok decided to take on the Manchester 10K alongside his son, Amman, in her memory. Together, they crossed the finish line wearing their Roy Castle Lung Cancer Foundation running shirts and achieved something incredible — raising £1,000 to support people affected by lung cancer. Ashok described Aunty Lali as “an amazing woman”, and through this challenge he and Amman have honoured her memory in a truly special way. A huge congratulations to you both, and thank you for turning your grief into hope for others. 💙 #TeamRoyCastle #Manchester10K #FundraisingHeroes #InMemory #LungCancerAwareness

🏔️ A huge congratulations to Joe and his dad for conquering Snowdon via the challenging Crib Goch ridge and raising over £1,500 for Roy Castle Lung Cancer Foundation so far! 💙 Joe took on this incredible challenge after his stepdad's recent diagnosis of lung cancer, inspired by a family history of supporting good causes. His dad, a prostate cancer survivor and dedicated fundraiser himself, joined him for the climb. What an incredible achievement from 11-year-old Finley 💙 After losing his grandad to lung cancer, Finley took on a truly inspiring challenge — a golf drive-a-thon aiming to hit a ball 100 miles in a single day, all to raise money for Roy Castle Lung Cancer Foundation. It took him 9 hours, endless determination and some very tired arms… but he did it 👏 With friends and family cheering him on throughout the day, Finley showed amazing resilience and heart, raising an incredible £1,500 in memory of his grandad. We are so proud of you, Finley — what a star 🌟 #TeamRCLCF #FundraisingHero #InMemory #LungCancerAwareness #CommunitySupport

Roy Castle Lung Cancer Foundation reposted this
The Cancer Alliance’s programme manager Kerrie Massey teamed up with partners from Bradford District and Craven Lung Cancer Screening Programme - Sangita, project manager and Beth, lung cancer screening clinical nurse specialist, as well as Mike and Melody from the Roy Castle Lung Cancer Foundation team for an event to raise awareness of the NHS Lung Cancer Screening Programme. The event, in Ilkley, featuring a giant pair of inflatable lungs, attracted many visitors for a wide range of discussions. Events like this can help eligible people and their families understand more about screening, and why it’s so important to get checked. The NHS Lung Cancer Screening Programme invites individuals aged 55 to 74 who currently smoke or have ever smoked for a free lung health check. The goal is to detect cancer at an early stage when it is significantly more treatable. Following an initial phone call, those most at risk from lung cancer are then invited for a lung scan at a mobile CT unit in their local area. We encourage people to take up the offer of a lung health check when invited, and these events help us to raise awareness of the programme in Bradford District and Craven. If you are eligible for screening, you will receive an invite from either your GP or the NHS inviting you for an appointment. – look out for your invite! After losing her dad to lung cancer, Chiara wanted to create a space where others experiencing grief could connect, talk and support one another 💙 She's launched a grief walking group in Fife, bringing people together through the healing power of walking, conversation and community. We're so inspired by Chiara's determination to help others following her own loss, and we're excited to support her as she prepares to take on an Ironman 70.3 later this year in aid of Roy Castle Lung Cancer Foundation. Thank you, Chiara, for turning your experience into something that helps others 💙 #LungCancerAwareness #GriefSupport #CommunityMatters #TeamRCLCF #WalkingTogether
