Please consider a very worthy cause on Giving Tuesday. If you enjoy listening then follow the JustGiving link
This is the first time I have used LinkedIn for anything personal but today I make an exception. This week I released my charity solo album, cornet with piano accompaniment to raise funds for the National Youth Brass Band of Great Britain. Donations will go to the Bursary Fund, enabling children to participate in music courses they would not have been able to afford. The arts are so important to us all and contribute so much to a young person's development. Please listen and if you enjoy, consider donating to a very worthy cause. https://lnkd.in/eiaAnYgt Thank you for your support, Richard

Delighted to attend #BBConf24 with Ayesha Nayyar of The Wildlife Trusts to receive the Green Hero award on behalf of THE NATIONAL YOUTH BRASS BAND OF GREAT BRITAIN for our Fragile Earth collaboration. This important partnership, over the last 18 months, worked together, to highlight the importance of protecting our planet. The project culminated in a world premiere performance of a new piece, Fragile Earth, composed by Sir Karl Jenkins. We are grateful to The Colwinston Charitable Trust, Arts Council England and the Department for Education, for their support. Photo credit Iwan Fox

There was a real sense of optimism and joy on show at the Royal Albert Hall for The National Youth Orchestra's annual BBC Proms concert. The standard of musicianship was through the roof and the long, heartfelt standing ovation at the end of the concert was thoroughly well deserved. The NYO's chief executive, Sarah Alexander OBE, makes the excellent point that the young musicians who form the orchestra are not just talent for tomorrow, they are also talent for today, with a relevance to other young people of their own age - whether that's through inspiring them to take up an instrument, or sparking a connection to orchestral music-making and classical music as a whole. Investing in young musicians across all musical genres is important to us at Arts Council England and we do it in a number of different ways, which include: ▶ Investing more than £101 million in new Music Hub Lead Organisations on behalf of the Department for Education to ensure that every child in England has access to high quality music opportunities in and outside of school. ▶ Investing £9.7 million a year, thanks to National Lottery players, to support the work of Youth Music, the national charity which sets out to build a world where every young person can make, learn and earn in music, whatever their background or goal. ▶ Investing more than £4 million a year in 15 National Youth Music organisations as part of our National Portfolio: Young Sounds UK, British Youth Music Theatre, the National Youth Folk Ensemble, MILAP, the National Children's Orchestras of Great Britain, the National Youth Choir, the National Youth Jazz Collective, Music for Youth, Open Up Music, Orchestras for All, Pagoda Arts, the THE NATIONAL YOUTH BRASS BAND OF GREAT BRITAIN, UD, Sound and Music and The National Youth Orchestra. ▶ Investing £900,000 a year in the In Harmony programme, which aims to change children's lives through the power of ensemble music making. These long-term projects run in Lambeth, Liverpool, Nottingham, Telford, Stoke, Leeds and Newcastle. ▶ Investing in a wide range of music organisations within our National Portfolio to deliver learning, participation and education projects. The largest recipient of Arts Council investment within our National Portfolio specifically for this work is Glyndebourne Opera who receive £800,000 per year for their programme of opera learning and engagement. These are just some of the highlights of our support for young people's music making. There's much more. None of it would happen without the young people themselves - and without the skill of dedicated music teachers, professional musicians and music organisations who inspire the young musicians. And not forgetting the important role played by countless philanthropic individuals and organisations who invest alongside public and charitable funders in this exciting new generation of musical talent. Thank you to them all. #Music #Arts #Culture #MusicEducation #YouthMusic #LetsCreate
