Developing and supporting positive behaviours with transformative training.

About us

Team Teach is a market leading, award-winning training provider that promotes a whole setting holistic approach to behaviour management. With our head offices based in London and Australia, and a network of close to 3,500 trainers worldwide, we deliver training specific to individual settings across the United Kingdom, Europe, Australia, New Zealand and many more international locations. Established in 1997, Team Teach is an ICM (Institute of Conflict Management) accredited behaviour support training programme that teaches positive handling strategies to both manage and respond to challenging behaviours. Our bespoke de-escalation and positive handling strategies are designed to support teachers, teaching assistants, support workers and carers, wanting to improve their situation management; how to reduce risk and restraint. By increasing staff confidence and competence, we aim to support teaching, learning and caring, whilst promoting and protecting positive relationships. Team Teach also provides insight on how to recognise and understand the reasons behind challenging behaviours. Such understanding helps develop skills in positive listening and learning, whilst discovering strategies to reduce the need for restraint or physical handling. For situations where, physical handling cannot be avoided, the Team Teach course also demonstrates how to use minimum force for the shortest time, how to prevent injury, pain and distress, and how to maintain dignity for all parties. Seeking to maintain and restore positive relationships is one of the central key messages of a Team Teach course.

  • Why Prevention is Better Than Cure When Supporting Behaviour. De-escalation. A word we frequently use across education and health and social care when thinking about behaviour support. We know that to reduce risk, mitigate or avoid crisis, and offer the best support to individuals, de-escalation is often the most effective option. The question is: are we clear about what is meant by de-escalation, why it matters, and how to de-escalate situations successfully in our settings, before crisis is reached? Education: ADEK approved Head of Inclusion, Special Education Needs

💡 Key Takeaways from the Team Teach Workshop on Student Behaviour & De-escalation 💡 Supporting student behaviour isn’t just about managing incidents—it’s about proactive strategies, de-escalation techniques, and creating a positive school culture. Attending the Team Teach workshop on 26 February reinforced some essential principles: ✅ De-escalation is a skill – Recognizing early signs of distress and responding with calm, predictable, and supportive actions can prevent crises. ✅ Policy matters – Clear, well-communicated student behaviour policies aligned with ADEK guidelines ensure consistency and fairness. ✅ Positive behaviour reinforcement – Shifting from a reactive approach to a proactive, values-driven model fosters a safer learning environment. ✅ Risk management is key – Behavioural interventions should be proportionate, necessary, and reasonable, prioritizing student well-being and inclusion. ✅ Bullying prevention needs structure – Schools must have a clear anti-bullying framework, with training for both staff and students on recognizing and responding effectively. A powerful reminder that how we respond to student behaviour shapes the learning environment for all. Looking forward to implementing these insights and strengthening inclusive, positive practices in our school! #Inclusion #PositiveBehaviour #Deescalation #EducationMatters #TeamTeach Melloney Smit Nancy Hooper
