My absolute privilege to attend the Covid-19 5 year memorial service at the Parish Church on behalf of Halton & St Helens Voluntary and Community Action and the wider sector, with our Vice Chair Amber Houghton from Home-Start St Helens. I spoke about the St Helens Together partnership and the work of so many people, groups and volunteers who when St Helens needed them most, they stepped up. It’s right to take a moment to reflect and remember. Thanks to the Parish Church & St Helens Council for giving us the chance to do that today, thinking of everyone who lost someone they loved or whose lives were changed forever because of the pandemic 💜

Today we held our first Halton VCFSE sector CEO network at the brilliant Scholars Restaurant part of Riverside College. A privilege to get together with colleagues from across the local sector and catch up. A great day! We’re in St Helens next on the 25 April when the wonderful The Laziz Project will be providing the food at Chain Lane Community Centre for us. More details will be available soon. We’ve had such a great start, thanks to all of you who joined us today. Looking forward to getting together in both Boroughs throughout the year ❤️ Halton & St Helens Voluntary and Community Action Riverside College Widnes & Runcorn

Seen a rise in this locally. About to start some work to support our members in this space, this is a great article! Thanks Jay and DSC 👏🏻 Halton & St Helens Voluntary and Community Action
We're currently witnessing a rise in political figures using social media to target and intimidate charities and their beneficiaries. Recent attacks, like those against the Welsh Refugee Council, highlight how social media platforms are amplifying hate and threatening charity staff and their work. In our new article, Jay Kennedy, DSC's Director of Policy and Research, argues that the government must do more to protect charities from the rise of online hate mobs.
