    There's something comforting about the collective realisation everyone seems to have this time of year about just how fast time flies. With the first half of the year behind us, companies are closing off financial years, new budgets and goals are being set, team performance and targets are being reviewed. For me, wrapping up Q2 also means completing my third month at Spencer Ogden, and with my probation review around the corner, it's definitely had me in a reflective mood. The intentionality behind the goals you set is something I've been thinking about; SMART goals are great, and in recruitment especially, they're easy to apply to your KPIs and targets. But I've found that if you don't know why you're working towards something, it's easy to get distracted, lose momentum, or abandon a goal altogether when things get tough. As we head into the second half of the year, I find it's important to take a step back and reflect on what's worked so far, what needs to change, and what we're really trying to achieve. Sometimes that reflection leads to a pivot. If something isn't working, it doesn't necessarily mean the goal has changed, it might just mean the way you're approaching it needs to. Knowing your "why" helps you stay committed to the destination, even if the route needs to change.
