🎣 Wilson lives in Chia Village with his wife and their eight children. He began fishing in 2008 using a small mesh gill net to target Chambo fish. However, his fishing business was not successful, making it difficult for him to provide for his family's needs. He was mostly catching baby Chambo. 🌟 In 2016, when Ripple Africa introduced the Fish for Tomorrow project in his village, Wilson learned how to improve his catches by using larger meshed nets. 🐟 He made a significant change by purchasing a legal multifilament gill net with the recommended mesh size of four inches. This decision allowed him to start making a substantial amount of money, leading him to invest in additional fishing gear for Usipa and acquire a boat with an engine. 💰 With his newfound success, Wilson has been able to purchase a sugarcane farm, build a modern house, and pay school fees for his children and relatives. 👏 He now owns two large boats with engines and two fishing gears for Usipa. His life has dramatically improved, all thanks to Ripple Africa’s Fish for Tomorrow project. . . . #fishconservation #fishfortomorrow #fish #fishing #fisherman #fishbusiness #businessman #success #positivefuture #lakemalawi #conservation #environment #malawi #africa #rippleafrica

🌟 The menstrual cup pilot was a huge success, and we are delighted that there will be more girls and women benefitting from menstrual cups this year. 📹 Here's a throwback to the menstrual cup training that Rebecca received and the introduction of the project to the first students. 👏 Funding allowed us to trial menstrual cups with 250 girls with Standard 7 pupils at five primary schools, Form 2 and 3 students at Kapanda Secondary School, and a youth group. 📑 The pilot project report is available to read here: https://lnkd.in/epd5MMC3 . . . #menstrualcup #rubycup #periods #periodpoverty #lifeskills #familyplanning #sexualhealth #femalehealth #makeadifference #communitydevelopment #Malawi #Africa #rippleafrica

💖 Four-year-old Memory has the biggest smile at meal time at pre-school. 🍠 She comes to school without breakfast sometimes, just like a few of her friends, which is why having sweet potatoes is one of her favourite parts of the morning. She loves them because they stop her feeling hungry. 🌟 Throughout the morning Memory has fun learning and playing with her friends. 📖 Avid readers, here is your next Sunday read – our 2024 Sweet Potato Project report. 🍠 For the majority of the farmers that we worked with, they had a good year, and although it is not uncommon for the farmers to have experience growing the local sweet potato varieties, they are happy to grow the improved varieties of orange-fleshed sweet potato as these are more nutritious and flavoursome. We have also shared some of the challenges that faced those farmers affected by drought and floods. 📑 Read the full report here: https://lnkd.in/eSmjnMYs . . . #sweetpotato #sweetpotatovine #farming #agriculture #food #vitaminA #nutrition #health #communitydevelopment #endofyearreport #Malawi #Africa #rippleafrica

🌟 It was team work in Numeri Village for these nine community tree nursery members who together raised 18,000 seedlings. 🌱 These seedlings have now been divided equally between the members and planted out on their respective land but they still supported each other in transporting the seedlings, digging holes, and planting them out. 👏 Well done to all involved. . . . #teamwork #treeteam #farmers #farming #treenursery #seedlings #treeplanting #trees #forestconservation #environment #communitydevelopment #Malawi #africa #rippleafrica

🚰 Can you imagine not having access to clean water to drink, cook with, and bathe in? 🌍 For thousands of people in Malawi this is case when their borehole breaks. Therefore, we work with the community and District Council to identify boreholes and shallow wells in need of repair. 🌟 We then provide funding for the purchase of spare parts to enable district maintenance teams to carry out the repairs. 🛻 We also provide funding for transport and subsistence costs for the repair teams to enable them to reach the rural communities. 💦 Want to help? 🌱 The Community Fruit Tree Clubs raise a variety of fruit tree seedlings from guava and avocado to citrus and pawpaw. 🍊 One reason for doing so is that they all bear fruit at different times with some trees producing fruit quite quickly. 🌟 It is great for the farmers to see that only eight months after planting their pawpaw seedings, they are able to see the trees bearing fruit. 👏 These pawpaw's still have a way to go until they are ready to pick but the added bonus is that these hybrid pawpaw trees are shorter. This allows the children to be able to pick the fruit before and after school. . . . #nutrition #fruittrees #agriculture #pawpaw #papaya #fruits #growyourown #communitydevelopment #sustainabledevelopment #Malawi #africa #rippleafrica

🌍 Hawa lives in Nkhotakota District. She used to be a full-time housewife, taking care of her husband and children. 🙏 However, life changed for her in 2016 when we introduced the Fish for Tomorrow Project in her District. She joined the Village Savings and Loan program and borrowed some money to start a fish-selling business in Lilongwe and Kasungu. 💰 She saved money with help and training from Ripple Africa, BVCs, and the Fisheries Department, and as more fishers are now using legal fishing gear, fish catches, and therefore her business, has improved. 👏 As her business grew, Hawa opened a grocery shop to supplement her income, helping her family pay for school fees. She then built a house and another shop. 🌟 Hawa credits her success to Ripple Africa, stating, "If it wasn’t for the charity, I wouldn't be where I am today." 💖 We are proud that the project has helped people like Hawa but it is their hard work that achieves the results. 🐟 Learn more about the project here: https://lnkd.in/gJduCBbn . . . #housewife #mother #businesswoman #fishconservation #fishfortomorrow #fish #fishing #lakemalawi #conservation #environment #malawi #africa #rippleafrica
