Just a year ago, conversations about post-quantum cryptography (PQC) were centred around "what is PQC?" Today, the focus has shifted with organisations actively seeking to adopt quantum-safe algorithms. While the timeline different organisations and sectors are working to may vary, industry and government guidance broadly agrees that preparations for PQC migration must begin now. For example: 🔸 The UK’s National Cyber Security Centre recommends completing the discovery phase by 2028 and migrating by 2035 🔸In the US, OMB Memo M-23-02 sets a primary goal of mitigating as much quantum risk as feasible by 2035 One thing we can be certain about is that PQC algorithms, like all cryptographic systems, rely on randomness to generate strong keys. In fact, PQC protocols place even greater demands on the quality and reliability of randomness sources. 📸 Meet our summer 2025 interns!    We’re delighted to have recently welcomed Harry Youel and Fredrik Hasselgren to Quantum Dice for the summer. 🎉   Harry, who is in the second year of his PhD at UCL in the Spintronics Group at the London Centre for Nanotechnology, said:   “As part of my PhD, I've been researching probabilistic computing, which has led me to explore how true randomness can be harnessed for solving complex optimisation and generative AI tasks. This internship is a valuable experience in bridging my research with quantum hardware, offering a unique perspective on how probabilistic algorithms can be used to address real-world combinatorial optimisation challenges.”    Fredrik recently completed a master’s in Mathematical and Theoretical Physics at the University of Oxford, after studying Physics and Philosophy at the University of St Andrews. He said:   “My work has included developing simulations of strongly coupled solid-state systems, and my thesis focused on designing a quantum-inspired classical algorithm to simulate quantum dynamics more efficiently than existing methods.
