  • 🌍🚀 Open Cosmos Teams Up with ESA for Groundbreaking NanoMagSat Mission! 🚀🌍 Exciting news from Frankfurt! Today, at the ESA Earth Observation Commercialisation event, Open Cosmos signed a €35M contract with the European Space Agency - ESA to launch NanoMagSat, a constellation of three advanced satellites that will monitor Earth’s magnetic field and ionospheric environment. ✨ Why does it matter? Earth's magnetic field is crucial—it shields us from harmful space radiation and enables technologies like navigation and geophysical surveying. NanoMagSat will extend the legacy of ESA’s Swarm mission, ensuring continuous European leadership in magnetic field observation from space. 🔭 The mission highlights: - 3 satellites orbiting at 545 km altitude in polar and inclined orbits for unparalleled coverage. - Cutting-edge instruments to measure magnetic fields, plasma density, and ionospheric dynamics. - First launch planned for late 2027, with a 3-year operational lifetime for the entire constellation. - Developed by Open Cosmos and a stellar European team including IPGP, CEA-Leti, University of Oslo, COMET Ingeniería, and DTU Space. 💡 What will it achieve? The data from NanoMagSat will be made available as per the free and open data policy. It will advance our understanding of the complex dynamics of the Earth’s magnetic field and of the ionospheric environment key for multiple applications such as Space weather forecasting, navigation accuracy, climate studies and geophysical exploration This mission represents the perfect combination of ESA and NewSpace approach, leveraging small satellites for new science! 🌟 Follow us for updates as we work towards launch! 🚀 Learn more: https://lnkd.in/g2DvEeZC #NanoMagSat #OpenCosmos #ESA #EarthObservation #SpaceInnovation #NewSpace #Science #ESACommercialisation

  • Unlocking Mining Insights with Open Cosmos Satellite Data This image was captured by Mantis in October over one of Chile’s expansive copper mining regions. It showcases the scale of operations and the role that satellites can play in mapping and managing Earth’s natural resources. Chile hosts some of the world’s largest and most productive copper mines, with the north of the country containing the largest concentration of copper porphyry deposits in the world. These vast deposits, formed through volcanic processes, are rich in disseminated copper sulphides - making them a cornerstone of Chile’s economy and essential for the global transition to clean energy. Copper’s high conductivity makes it irreplaceable in electric goods - from renewable energy systems and EVs to electrical grids - all of which rely on copper-intensive components. As global demand for this metal surges as we decrease our reliance on fossil fuels, Chile’s copper reserves will play a vital role in meeting the needs of a sustainable world. Our satellite imagery can serve as a valuable tool in the exploration and evaluation of mineral resources. High resolution imagery, like the data captured by MANTIS, can help to identify geological features, aid in estimating production levels and provide transparency in commodity research. This imagery can also support environmental monitoring and operational efficiency in the mining industry, making it indispensable to modern exploration efforts. #OpenCosmos #MANTIS #SatelliteData #mining

  • 🌍🚀 Exploring the Future of Vineyards Through Space Technology! Today, we’re in Vilafranca del Penedès, participating in a Technical Day dedicated to uncovering how satellite technology is revolutionising vineyard management. Our colleagues from IEEC, isardSAT, Observatori de l’Ebre, IRTA, SPASCAT and Agropixel have been sharing insights of the MARE project and the Earth Observation Module (MOT) project. 🍇Using satellite data, MARE has developed a cutting-edge methodology to monitor drought conditions and optimise water use in crops—a vital step toward sustainable agriculture. 🛰️By leveraging satellite imagery, MOT has shown how to pinpoint key areas for vineyard inspections with greater precision, saving time and resources. These advancements have been powered by data from Open Cosmos’ Menut satellite, the second nanosatellite of Catalonia’s New Space Strategy. With this data, we’re making strides in sustainability, environmental monitoring, and Earth observation. Space technology is opening new frontiers for agriculture, and we’re proud to be part of this journey. 🌟 #OpenCosmos #Menut #NewSpace #Sustainability #EarthObservation

Today is International Men’s Day! This annual event shines a spotlight on men’s health and well-being—both mental and physical—and raises awareness of critical issues such as abuse, homelessness, and parental rights. In many cultures, stigmas like "man flu" or "men don't cry" perpetuate the idea that men should suppress vulnerability or avoid seeking help. This often leaves men feeling isolated or unsure how to ask for the support they need. IMD was founded on Six Pillars which are: 1. To promote positive male role models; not just movie stars and sports men but everyday, working-class men who are living decent, honest lives. 2. To celebrate men's positive contributions to society, community, family, marriage, child care, and the environment. 3. To focus on men's health and wellbeing: social, emotional, physical, and spiritual. 4. To highlight discrimination against men in areas of social services, social attitudes and expectations, and law. 5. To improve gender relations and promote gender equality. 6. To create a safer, better world, where people can be safe and grow to reach their full potential. Some Sobering Facts About Men’s Health: 75% of suicides are men, with suicide being the leading cause of death for men under 50. 66% of violent deaths are men. Prostate cancer is the most diagnosed cancer in the UK but often caught too late. 20% of men die prematurely before age 65, with men living six years less on average than women. Let’s change the narrative and remind men that seeking help is a sign of strength, not weakness. If you or someone you know is struggling, reach out to the Samaritans. They provide a free, confidential helpline at 116 123 or an online chat service: 👉 https://lnkd.in/ea9Ve6pX Today, let’s celebrate men and work together to create a world where everyone feels supported, valued, and safe.
