🔊 News: 𝗙𝗶𝗿𝘀𝘁 𝗟𝗶𝗴𝗵𝘁 𝗙𝘂𝘀𝗶𝗼𝗻 𝗦𝗲𝘁𝘀 𝗪𝗼𝗿𝗹𝗱 𝗥𝗲𝗰𝗼𝗿𝗱 𝗳𝗼𝗿 𝗣𝗿𝗲𝘀𝘀𝘂𝗿𝗲 𝗼𝗻 𝗮 𝗧𝘄𝗼-𝗦𝘁𝗮𝗴𝗲 𝗚𝗮𝘀 𝗚𝘂𝗻 In July 2025, First Light recorded the highest pressure output ever achieved on a two-stage light gas gun – generating pressures equivalent to 25 million times the atmospheric pressure on Earth. Our record-breaking result was achieved using the latest version of our proprietary pressure amplification technology, which increased the attainable pressure in a quartz sample from 200 gigapascals (GPa) to 2.5 terapascals (TPa) – more than 12x increase and equivalent to 25 million times atmospheric pressure. The successful experiment also generated sample temperatures exceeding 100,000 degrees Celsius – more than 3x hotter than a bolt of lightning. The ability to test materials under extreme pressure opens new research possibilities across space, defence and other industries. The result is significant as such pressures could only previously be generated with extremely large facilities, but with First Light’s amplifiers the same result can now be achieved within a small facility and at a dramatically lower cost per ‘shot.’ To read the full release please visit our website - https://lnkd.in/e6Scn-P7 📸 𝘊𝘢𝘱𝘵𝘪𝘰𝘯: 𝘙𝘢𝘸 𝘥𝘢𝘵𝘢 𝘧𝘳𝘰𝘮 𝘍𝘪𝘳𝘴𝘵 𝘓𝘪𝘨𝘩𝘵’𝘴 𝘓𝘪𝘯𝘦 𝘝𝘐𝘚𝘈𝘙 𝘥𝘪𝘢𝘨𝘯𝘰𝘴𝘵𝘪𝘤 𝘧𝘰𝘳 𝘵𝘩𝘦 𝘳𝘦𝘤𝘦𝘯𝘵 𝘦𝘹𝘱𝘦𝘳𝘪𝘮𝘦𝘯𝘵 𝘸𝘩𝘪𝘤𝘩 𝘣𝘳𝘰𝘬𝘦 𝘵𝘩𝘦 𝘉𝘍𝘎 𝘱𝘳𝘦𝘴𝘴𝘶𝘳𝘦 𝘳𝘦𝘤𝘰𝘳𝘥. • “Super funds say climate change is a top investment risk, but too few are backing the technologies that will actually solve it.”    In his latest piece for The Australian Financial Review, our Asia Pacific CIO Alistair McCreadie calls on Australia's $4 trillion superannuation sector to play its part in scaling the deep tech innovations critical to net zero. Here in the UK, we also champion the role of pension fund capital to power innovation and solve major societal challenges. Our cleantech portfolio – from pioneers in clean hydrogen to the future of sustainable aviation – is driving technological progress to help the UK reach its net zero target. The international First-in-Human study has recruited 29 adult patients across clinical centres in the UK, Austria, Bulgaria, Poland, and Spain. COMPOSER-1 is designed to investigate the safety, tolerability and initial signals of efficacy of MB310, a once-daily oral capsule containing a defined consortium of eight live gut commensal bacterial strains. 🌍💡 Backing Innovation At IP Group plc, together with our EIS fund management business Parkwalk Advisors and our cleantech platform Kiko Ventures, we provide growth capital to scale cutting-edge companies. In Australia, we’ve also partnered with The Group of Eight universities and manage funds for superannuation fund Hostplus.   We believe investing in energy-efficient innovation - from battery storage to hydrogen - is at the heart of a viable net zero transition.   Hysata, part of our cleantech portfolio, is developing a breakthrough hydrogen electrolyser and is accelerating the global transition to net zero. It is a great example of our model in action, illustrating how our Australia and UK cleantech teams work together to support the business. This short video, featuring Mike Molinari, MD of IP Group Australia, highlights how we’re supporting Hysata and how cross-border innovation can help deliver net zero.   #BackingInnovation #NetZeroTransition

  • “Pension savers in the UK need sufficient returns to fund their retirement – but they also need the UK to be a prosperous country in which to retire.” Two weeks on from the Chancellor’s #MansionHouse speech, the message remains clear: unlocking pension capital is key to driving UK innovation and growth.   In his article for The Times, our CEO Greg Smith called for faster action – urging Government and pension funds to back the UK’s most promising science and tech companies.   Greg outlines why this matters not just for entrepreneurs, but for savers and the wider economy too. If you missed it, you can read the full piece on our website. Link in comments 👇🔗
