  • 🌟 Smart Meters: Unlocking Innovation with a Side of Privacy Concerns 🌟 Smart meter data has the power to supercharge energy innovation, boost efficiency, and drive the low-carbon transition. But here's the catch: navigating privacy, consent, and cost barriers is no walk in the park. The Energy Systems Catapult’s bold ‘Data for Good’ initiative suggests a fresh governance approach to make smart meter data more accessible for innovation while respecting consumer privacy. However, balancing data utility with ethical use and regulatory compliance requires more than good intentions—robust frameworks and clever tech (think obfuscation) are a must. The mission? Empower businesses, researchers, and policymakers to unlock the true potential of smart data, while keeping consumer trust in the spotlight. Click on the link below to check out Flui's take (courtesy of Terry Underwood) on this and also access the 'Data for Good' report. How do you see this playing out for innovation and consumer trust? Let's discuss! 👇 #smartmeters #smartmeterdata #dataprivacy #smartenergy #FluiTechnologies #innovation

  • Empowering the MHHS Programme Implementation! Market changes to half-hourly settlements is a huge programme of work for the UK electricity market - relying on the Smart Meter rollout for accurate consumption information to feed the new settlement processes. Supplier benefits of half-hourly settlement will be reduced if Smart Meter estates are not well managed and functioning correctly. While there are algorithms to estimate missing reads in the absence of actual half-hourly data, this is sub-optimal and will likely reduce any potential benefits arising from other Supplier initiatives (such as TOU tariffs, Demand-Side Response, etc.). Flui anticipates that MHHS will encourage Suppliers to accelerate the rollout and resolution of issues with non-communicating devices. The Smart Meter coverage rate is further complicated by 3G sunsetting of Communications Hubs (which also requires some SMETS1 replacements). This is driving a second wave of home visits to commission new Communications Hubs. Suppliers may choose to provide read 'extracts' from their Meter Data Management Solution of consumption from Smart Meters, to their appointed Smart Data Services (SDS) to feed the settlement processes. Alternatively SDS's can directly request the reads themselves from Smart Meters using DCC ‘Meter Data Retriever’ (MDR) role. But in either case, the limiting factor of read completeness is coverage of devices capable of providing the required data using remote messaging. Flui's MeterFlow - a unified platform for managing Smart Meters, built on our proven software components trusted in the most complex and demanding energy dataflow handling scenarios, is designed to help the industry navigate these challenges and many others. • Active Meter Data Management & Dynamic Pricing. We had a great time at the Future of Utilities Smart Energy conference last week interacting with various organisations, discussing the evolution of the energy industry. A key topic of interest was “Dynamic Pricing”. Smart Meters are a key enabler for MHHS in the UK - and with the required market changes underway, energy suppliers will continue to adapt to the new ways of working to gain competitive advantages from the consumer information that is becoming increasingly available. For example, progressive suppliers may initially aim to accurately match actual customer energy use with the lowest wholesale rates using Time-of-Use (TOU) tariffs, benefiting both customers and the overall efficiency of the energy industry. #smartenergy #dynamicpricing #netzero #FluiTechnologies #smartmeterdata #meterdatamanagement #mdms

  • Grid Flexibility is a key priority for the UK Energy sector, driving initiatives like Demand-Side Response, Time-of-Use (TOU) tariffs, and other mechanisms designed to help balance the grid. Flui Technologies' MeterFlow solution is already supporting mechanisms such as Auxiliary Load Control Switch (ALCS), Proportional Load Control Switch (PLCS), TOU tariffs, and energy export for microgeneration. We're excited to meet you at the Future of Utilities: Smart Energy conference, 13-14 November! #FoUSmartEnergy24 #utilities #smartenergy #smartmetering #FluiTechnologies #smartmeterdata #gridflexibility

  • Flui Technologies and AMT-SYBEX are proud to announce that we’ll be co-participating at the 2024 Future of Utilities Smart Energy Conference, 13-14 November, in London. Both businesses are part of the Jonas Software UK group; AMT-Sybex is an expert in enterprise asset management software, including new product Geofield Cloud - the next-gen cloud offering for field-based work management. Once again, the conference boasts a fantastic agenda with eminent industry speakers! Come and check out what our businesses have been developing for the market. We’re excited to meet you there! #futureofutilities #smartenergy #smartenergyconference #fluitechnologies
