CGM can help people with type 2 diabetes to better understand the effects of nutrition, exercise and diabetes medications on their glucose levels.(*,1,2) This has been shown in a recent case study of the North Central London Integrated Care Board – where 8 GP practices recruited a total of 95 patients with type 2 diabetes, who were not yet on insulin, but needed more support to reduce their HbA1c.(3) Over the course of 12 weeks, this pilot study demonstrated improvements to HbA1c, body weight and blood pressure: Mean HbA1c fell by ~ 10mmol/mol (n=70). Mean weight loss was around 1.7kg (n=52). Mean blood pressure fell from 131/81 to 123/76 mmHg (n=65). Further, 64% of patients (n=70) improved their HbA1c by 5mol/mol or more during the study period.
