The Velyka Mykhailivka municipality in Dnipropetrovsk region continues to provide administrative services despite the challenges of the full-scale invasion. With the support of U-LEAD with Europe which is implemented by GIZ Ukraine, funded by Federal Ministry for Economic Cooperation and Development (BMZ) and other donors, the community ensures that people receive the services they need—no matter the circumstances. The Administrative Service Center remains operational even during power outages, thanks to generators provided by U-LEAD with Europe . A mobile office reaches the most remote villages, allowing residents to obtain documents, certificates, and other essential services. Newly acquired minibuses help deliver humanitarian aid and provide support where it is needed most. "People must receive services regardless of the circumstances. We cannot allow the war to stop the life of the municipality," says Yevhen Fisak, Head of the hromada. For Velyka Mykhailivka, access to administrative services is not just about paperwork—it’s about stability, security, and the ability to live without unnecessary worries, even in the most difficult conditions. Ukraine’s energy system is under immense pressure, adapting daily to the challenges of the full-scale invasion. Despite ongoing attacks, energy workers tirelessly restore power networks to keep electricity flowing to homes, hospitals, and critical infrastructure. Thanks to the German-Ukrainian Energy Partnership, more than 12 kilometers of power cable from Avacon Gruppe have been procured and delivered to Ukraine. This vital equipment will help repair damaged networks, connect essential facilities, and enhance energy security in the most affected regions. Ukrainian energy workers remain on the frontlines, ensuring that hospitals, water utilities, public transport, and key infrastructure stay operational. The delivered cables will speed up repairs and reinforce backup power lines to handle increased demand. Every contribution matters! Join the German-Ukrainian Energy Partnership and support Ukraine’s energy recovery. Learn more about the initiative here https://lnkd.in/evrVYjAC The donation and procurement campaign is managed by the German-Ukrainian Energy Partnership, commissioned by the Federal Ministry for Economic Affairs and Climate Action (BMWK), and implemented by GIZ Ukraine. 🧠 For Maksym Vernyhora, one thing is certain: mental health must be a central pillar of recovery in #Ukraine. Or, as he puts it: ‘The only way forward is hope, kindness and #solidarity. I choose love, and I choose to care.’ Maksym works as an advisor in the GIZ #MentalHealth project. Today, he is committed to building gender-responsive mental health support for veterans, internally displaced persons and children affected by war in Ukraine. Russia’s war of aggression in Ukraine has not only destroyed cities and infrastructure – it has also left deep psychological wounds. Post-traumatic stress disorders, depression and anxiety disorders are widespread, but access to psychosocial support remains a major challenge. At #GIZakzente, Maksym talks more about his work at GIZ Ukraine: https://lnkd.in/di3RXyS3

We are building a bridge between development cooperation and the private sector in #Ukraine: German companies can contribute to reconstruction through sustainable investments and innovations, for example in the field of renewable energies and construction. Just like the company IBS, which is renovating the road network in Lviv with innovative building materials. This creates new jobs and an economic upswing. 🌱🏗️ Find out more about the Bundesministerium für wirtschaftliche Zusammenarbeit und Entwicklung (BMZ)'s offers for companies and how they can get involved: https://lnkd.in/e5-s5WKy #Ukraine #buildbackbetter #privatesector

On February 18, Federal Minister Svenja Schulze met with GIZ Ukraine Team in Deutsche Gesellschaft für Internationale Zusammenarbeit (GIZ) GmbH HQ in Eschborn. She thanked colleagues in Ukraine and in Germany for their unwavering commitment to driving reconstruction efforts in Ukraine, emphasizing GIZ’s strength as a partner-oriented implementer. Drawing on decades of experience, a broad on-site presence, and proven reliability, GIZ stands out among international organizations. During multiple trips to Ukraine last year, Minister Schulze saw firsthand the organization’s impactful work in the health and energy sectors. At the meeting, GIZ Ukraine presented initial results of the 2024/25 Winter Aid, funded by Federal Ministry for Economic Cooperation and Development (BMZ) to ensure energy security and heating supply—supporting an estimated 2.5 million people. This rapid assistance was made possible by close coordination with local municipalities. GIZ Ukraine is also focusing on “green” reconstruction through energy efficiency and renewable sources. A key topic was rehabilitation, with some 250,000 people—including war-injured veterans and civilians—currently requiring support. GIZ Ukraine is taking a holistic approach, from establishing prosthetics workshops and training orthopedic specialists to providing psychosocial assistance. Crucially, services are expanded at the community level, ensuring help reaches people where they live and promoting full inclusion. Minister Schulze underlined that GIZ’s people-centered engagement is vital for rebuilding Ukraine now and in the future. She reaffirmed that both the German Federal Government and GIZ Ukraine remain reliable partners for the country’s continued development and recovery. #BMZ #GIZ
