One day you’re in, and the next day you’re out… until you’re back in at a new channel.
Project Runway will move to Freeform for Season 21 in 2025, the network announced on Thursday. The host, judges and premiere date for the 10-episode season will be announced at a later date.
“Project Runway is an iconic television juggernaut that perfectly complements the pop-culture spirit at Freeform,” said Simran Sethi, the president of scripted programming for Hulu Originals and ABC Entertainment. “We are excited to welcome the original series to the Disney family and reignite the fanbase alongside Spyglass [Media Group] and Alfred Street [Industries], giving viewers the chance to once again share in discovering the next generation of exceptionally talented fashion designers.”
Producer Dan Cutforth said in a statement that the move will evolve the series “for a new generation.” Producer Jane Lipsitz added that the refresh will “honor our die-hard Project Runway fans” while also introducing new and innovative ideas.
Originally hosted by Heidi Klum, Project Runway debuted in 2004 on Bravo, where it stayed for five seasons before moving to Lifetime. In 2019, the series returned to Bravo, with Karlie Kloss replacing Klum as host, and Season 4 winner Christian Siriano replacing Tim Gunn as mentor. Project Runway Season 20 wrapped in September 2023.
In addition to Siriano, the competition series has helped launch the careers of prolific designers, including Austin Scarlett, Leanne Marshall, Irina Shabayeva, Michael Costello and Bishme Cromartie.
I’ll reserve judgment, but I’m not too sure about this.
Sigh.
I dont even know if I get that channel. I’ve watched every season of Project Runway. Not sure about this change up…
I would guess that any service you use that has Lifetime and Bravo also has Freeform.
Spectrum removed Freeform as part of the negotiations with Disney.
Freeform shows are on Hulu the next day, if you have it.
I HAVECA LOTNOF CABLE CHANNELS BUTCNEVER HEARD OFXFREEFORM. EVER..SO NOW I CSNT WATCH PROJECT RUNWAY..ONE OF MY FAVORITE SHOWS!
I’m happy. I thought the show was dead and having watched all the PR-alikes (just finished Dress My Tour), they’re fun but don’t live up to the original. I haven’t heard anything about a new season of Making the Cut so I almost hope Tim and Heidi come back, but I’m sure that won’t happen. Hope they pick some good people, looking forward to it. 🤞
This seems like a bad, bad idea.
I have watched every episode of PR. The last few seasons were just “okay”. Christian was a great addition as mentor but I missed having an actual host. The addition of Elaine Welteroth, while amazing in her own right…was a bad misstep. She was awful, clearly had favorites, had designer reviews that were so inconsistent that even designers called it out and led the show down the wrong path. Brandon was there clearly as the cheap Michael Korr with his snarky comment brigade and it didn’t work. Nina is amazing, has real cred and if she’s not a part of this remix, she’ll be missed.
I could do without Nina, she thought her waist didn’t stink and judging people when she herself looked like she had just fallen out of bed.
sorry that should be *waste* not waist.
Totally disagree. She is the editor and chief at Elle magazine and has been a judge on PR since the beginning. You may not like her style but it’s hard to deny her qualifications. No Nina, No Project Runway. Just make a different show.
While Brandon was my favorite. The night he tore a new one into the designer who blamed their incompetence on a plus-sized model, as though they couldn’t possibly make anything work on an ugly cow like her, Brandon became my hero. Oh, and the other designers fought to get that model every challenge for years.
I could not agree more with everything you wrote!!!
I don’t see it mentioned here but saw it mentioned on other sites, so just to confirm: will it be available on Disney+ or Hulu in addition to Freeform?
Yay, Project Runway is coming back!
I’m curious as to why. Did Bravo not want it? I liked the new judges/host. Hopefully they’ll get hired for this version.
I am thrilled to learn that hopefully I will get to enjoy one of my all-time favorite shows on TV again!! Thanks so very much for sharing this. I really do appreciate it. Cannot wait to enjoy it again, y’all!!❤️❤️❤️
Freeform?
Is this yet another network I don’t get?
We pay over $300 a month for bundled TV, internet and land phone.
Still don’t see a lot of what I want to see because of having to ‘buy in’ to subscribe to yet another network.
I have been a huge fan of Project Runway. But?! 🤔
Freeform used to be ABC Family
Bring back Tim Gun@
Can’t wait i have watc every season of project runway plus all stars but I don’t think we get that channel in Illinois
I can’t wait to see project runway I love looking at that show. Tim Gum was the best please bring him back. Thank you for letting us know
So happy PR is coming back. Love love love this show!!!!
I hope I can get it I am a huge fan. I have been watching for years and I am so excited! I can’t freakin’ wait! I just love the competition and designers. A change could be good. I love Christian but I do miss Tim and Heidi❣️❣️❣️❣️
No Nina Garcia??? Big mistake. HUGE mistake. As the editor and chief at Elle magazine she has the clout in fashion and has been the rock of Project Runway since the beginning. No Nina no Project Runway. Just make a different show. Big pass for me.
For anyone not sure if they get the channel it will be on Freeform next day, so there’s that. I’ll remain optimistic, but I’m not too sure of this move. Freeform is just about as dead as The CW is now, but maybe it’ll find new viewers/life once it hits Hulu next day.
I just hope the new show isn’t so obvious in their eliminations. Their desire to be so relevant and diverse (when haven’t they been?) They became a joke. Cringe and ick, all while entitled contestants were underserving and overboard. Hopefully there will be more respect shown the new host/mentor.
I’ve watched Project Runway since S1E1 and had really enjoyed Ms Klum as host. Heidi has this quirkiness that is just really charming and always treated everyone with respect. Tim Gunn was So Cool to watch, and listen to, he never said what to do but the simple way he’d cock his head in thought, was enough to make contestants really think about their ideas. When Heidi n Tim left…and they rebooted with Karlie Kloss n Christian Siriano, it just went downhill fast! Karlie is as Blah as white bread and Christian was Rude, Cocky, Disparaging and quite honestly, he needed to help out kindly and not so flagrantly NASTY! Hopefully the show will come back with the Charm n Personality it began with!!
So excited for the return. Hope it available for all loyal fans!
I hope you have the same judges plus guest stars
It would be nice for the contestants to vote for each others garments as when you hear comments about each other’s designs they are so back stabbing.
I don’t have anything but basic cable and I’m disappointed in the channel change. Have watched since season one but I guess I will no longer be able to see it. Seems unfair for dedicated viewers.
Well, I won’t be buying extra television to watch it after I’ve watched it for 10 years. This is ridiculous. Everybody has to go on their separate stations and I’m sure I won’t be the only one who won’t pay extra.
