Patience is a virtue…?
The holiday break for CBS‘ well-watched shows is still upon us, but there is light at the end of that dark, dark tunnel: more than a dozen midseason premieres, plus a season premiere and a series premiere, are now right around the corner.
With the Sunday, Jan. 26, series launch of Watson — in which Morris Chestnut’s Dr. John Watson resumes his medical career six months after the death of his friend and partner, Sherlock Holmes — CBS officially kicks off its midseason slate, bringing back network TV’s most-watched scripted show (Tracker)… the most-watched new show (Matlock)… the most-watched comedy (Georgie & Mandy’s First Marriage) and the top-rated comedy (Ghosts)… and many other favorites.
Here in alphabetical order, TVLine has rounded up the spoilery synopses for CBS’ midseason returns and premieres, which include at least one FBI agent on death’s doorstep, CSI: NY vet Melina Kanakaredes doing sweet things on NCIS, and more.

Oh, that ‘Ghosts’ episode sounds fun! Can’t wait for that one.
NCIS Sydney AND S.W.A.T on at the same time on the same day? Is NCIS-Sydney on at 9 maybe?
Typo (on CBS’ part); fixed.
Wooo hooo, NCIS Verse!!!
Also looking forward to Tracker, Georgie and Mandy and Ghosts!
1. as much as I hope Nick’s girlfriend turns to be McGee’s sister Sarah or Vance’s daughter, I bet it’ll be Knight’s sister.
2. I excited about Franks’ past. He is my favorite character. NCIS:Origin is great. Does it dong well for a renewal?
not watching NCIS SYDNEY
Still mad at CBS for dropping BLUE BLOODS
Absolutely agreed. NCIS Sydney is awful &should be gone.
I agree with you. I will boycott CBS on Friday nights. How the executives at CBS could cancel Blue Bloods, a top Friday night show, is a mystery to me.
It’s been explained 2,543 times on here, but again…Shows that go more than 7 years or so get incredibly expensive to produce. Cast salaries go up, stage rentals increase, everything. And shooting a show in New York is much more expensive than in L.A.
The main Blue Bloods cast took pay cuts to give the show an extra year, but at some point, the economics of a long-running show just don’t allow the show to continue.
And just because it was the highest-rated show on Friday, that doesn’t give it carte blanche to run forever.
With the major changes in entertainment economics in the last few years, networks and streaming services are far less likely to support aging or expensive shows unless they do blockbuster business.
You’ll see long-running shows like Grey’s Anatomy and Law and Order: SVU sailing into the sunset in the next couple of years for many of the same reasons Blue Bloods did.
Unfortunately, the quality of shows will continue to drop as networks try to make shows as cheaply as possible..
This! Also unlike Greys and SVU which have kept going because they were able to hire new cast members for less and getting rid of ones who got costly in the longrun. Blue Bloods couldn’t do that without losing the family dynamics as most of the pay went to the cast who were there since day one Donnie, Tom, Will, Bridget, Lou, one or more of those had to go for the show to even be considered for a season 15.
Hope its either mitchell or his fratboy bro who goes missing. The fly team is better without the deadweight. And after Scott and Jamie now Vo seems the OGs are fading.
I agree
I’m waiting for the inevitability they get rid of Vo, Smitty, and Rains so Mitchell can fill the team with yes sayers like Booth. Scott wasn’t perfect but he knew to put the team first when he cut Powell after he became a liability.
When International first started, it was my favorite, loved it much more than the original or Most Wanted. Still don’t like Most Wanted, but International is not the same with all the cast changes. Never understood why the FBI series had so many changes. Disappointed.
I’m interested to see how Friday night does without Blue Bloods. Matt, counting on you for ratings
No Watson? Or is that just the pilot?
Mentioned in intro. (Can’t really “spoil” a new show.) –Mgmt.
Swat was a lot better before they turned it into the hondo show. It’s not that appealing since they got rid of everyone last season.
Who cares? There is nothing for me to watch on CBS since they cancelled Blue Bloods
Yet you cared enough to comment
l.p. Jim- blue bloods needed to go
it w as tired and repetitive….oh no! jamie got shot….will he live? oh no, danny got shot! will he live? oh no! erin is being targeted! will she survive?….really?? yawn…..
everything has an expiration date…blue bloods was WAYYY past it.
I wonder how NCIS can investigate Parker’s favorite bakery’s owner being blackmailed when it’s not part of the Navy or Marines?
NCIS has never had trouble getting a military angle in there somewhere. Maybe one of the pastry chefs has a brother in law in the National Guard.
They get involved in lots of situations that wouldn’t come under jurisdiction of the real NCIS.
Looking forward to more Ghosts, Matlock, Elsbeth, Tracker, and NCIS
Oh, that’s a good one! Too funny. Sadly, NCIS writers have lost their way and the acting follows……
So we need 3 FBI’s and 3 NCIS’ but I can’t have So Help Me Todd. Sigh.
Amen!
Amen No. 2!!! Best one in a long time, then it disappears.
Did I miss something, but why are the shows returning so late? Like they are so much later than ABC and NBC.
ABC’s popular Thursday slate isn’t back until March, FTR. https://tvline.com/features/tv-calendar-2025-january-return-dates-1235381852/ But yes, CBS’ are on the later side, all in one fell swoop.
Tired of every story revolving around Hondo in S.W.A.T. and being center of everything including stunts.
What is Hondo going to do when his wife goes to Watson?

Why do you have to move all the good shows to 10:00. People who work find this time is late for them. They were great for 9:00 time slot
Record and watch anytime OR stream it!!
No new Blue Bloods episode? No, I no longer watch CBS except for 60 Mintes Sunday night, and Sunday Morning with Jane Pauly.
