The maniacal, red-headed Chucky doll is slashing his way to the small screen, but what’s equally terrifying: So is Tiffany.
Jennifer Tilly is set to reprise her Child’s Play franchise role as Tiffany Valentine in Syfy’s upcoming series adaptation, our sister site Deadline reports. Chucky — which was ordered straight-to-series last year, with original voice actor Brad Dourif on board — will tell the story of an American town thrown into chaos after a vintage Chucky doll turns up at a suburban yard sale. No surprise here: “A series of horrifying murders” follows as “the arrival of enemies and allies from Chucky’s past threaten to expose the truth behind the killings, as well as the demon doll’s untold origins as a seemingly ordinary child who somehow became this notorious monster,” according to the official description.
Joining Tilly in a recurring role is Devon Sawa (Final Destination), whose specific character information is TBA.
The series has also named its four teenage leads: Zackary Arthur (Transparent), Teo Briones (Ratched), Alyvia Alyn Lind (Daybreak) and Björgvin Arnarson (The Seventh Day) all have joined Chucky as series regulars.
Tilly made her franchise debut in 1998’s Bride of Chucky, and appeared in the three sequels that followed: Seed of Chucky, Curse of Chucky and Cult of Chucky. Her recent TV credits include voice roles in JJ Villard’s Fairy Tales, SuperMansion and the upcoming Disney+ series Monsters at Work.
Don Mancini created Chucky and will serve as showrunner and executive producer. He wrote the original Child’s Play film and all six sequels, in addition to directing three of the films. Original film series producer David Kirschner also will serve as an EP.
Let’s hear it horror fans: Excited to hear that Tilly and Tiffany are back for more mayhem? Drop your thoughts in the Comments!
This definitely gives me more reason to check it out. Jennifer Tilly is awesome.
Kind of surprised they’re going back to the OG doll, it wasn’t very intimidating or scary compared to the reboot version which was wifi enabled and more menacing because of the modern upgrades. I love Jen Tilly though, so I’ll check it out. So thrilled Brad Dourif is back, he deserved the Oscar for One Flew Over the Cuckoos Nest, he’s one of the most underrated performers of the 20th century.
How is this a surprise? This is continuing the original Chucky story, with the original creator and actors.. The reboot was entirely new people and a new story. It would be like saying you’re surprised Ralph Macchio and Billy Zabka are playing LaRusso and Johnny in Cobra Kai.
Everything I hear about this makes me want to see it more.
Sounds good. I just hope they give us new material to expand the universe instead of rehashing the same stuff from the movies.
Itll never be like the original Childs Play. One of my favorite horror movies ever and one I saw as a young teenager with my friend in theaters even though is was rated R. I will always remember that film. Sequels were garbage, especially so when Tilly joined so if this is anything like them im sure itll lose my interest fast. Im sure im a minority on this but I just had high hopes for this and they are now starting to fade.
Read the first 5 comments. I love her. I think she added a lot to the films. To the person who just likes the first one. While it’s good, it’s kind of basic and has the traditional building that you only get in 1 film. When he came to life and you saw the personality it got better. Most of the movies are about that Chucky so it only makes sense they would go back to more of what people like me enjoyed. I thought the same thing with Freddy. While I loved the first movie I actually like the jokes. I think that’s why the reboots didn’t work as well even if they has changed writing and technology. People want what they fell in love with. I still want sequel with Andy and Kyle as they teased at the end. The original doll is the only Chucky to me. I liked the new movie but they should have called it something else. Same thing if they do another Buffy type show call the slayer something else. So for me anything and continues and add’s the the funny Chucky’s story is great. Looking forward to it. I hope this is made for streaming because I expect him to talk just like he always does.
Loved Devon in Nikita, can’t wait to see this now.
I can’t wait for the Chucky Serious 😍😍😍 I just hope we will know the day and when it will come on
