All My Children Primetime Sequel Series in Development at ABC, From Soap Vets Kelly Ripa and Mark Consuelos
Kelly Ripa and Mark Consuelos are raising Kane — maybe even Erica.
The married alumni of daytime’s All My Children are among the team working on a primetime continuation of the long-running soap opera, our sister site Deadline reports.
The new project is titled Pine Valley, aka the Pennsylvania community in which AMC was set. It will center on a young reporter with a secret agenda who arrives in town to bring Pine Valley’s deadly history to light. But, naturally, the young journalist gets tied up in a feud between the Santos and Kane families.
Per Deadline, the prospective show will have a heightened tone, and a relationship to soaps similar to Jane the Virgin‘s relationship to telenovelas. The bulk of the cast would be new characters, with some familiar faces —including Consuelos and Ripa — possibly sprinkled in.
Ripa and Consuelos played Hayley and Mateo Santos on the original daytime drama, which ran for more than four decades on ABC before a brief stint of new episodes that premiered online via The Online Network. Its biggest star, Susan Lucci, portrayed Erica Kane for the entire ABC run.
Along with Consuelos and Ripa, the project’s executive producers include Andrew Stearn (Shameless); Leo Richardson (EastEnders, Star), who also will write the script; and Robert Nixon, son of late AMC creator Agnes Nixon. ABC Signature will produce.

I agree! It was a hot mess at its best and it would be interesting to see. I just recently watched the cast reunion video on YouTube and it gave me so many feels.
They all seemed down for a revival too. Just wish I knew what happened to Molly Stanton. I loved her as Charity Standish.
Quite possibly the best tv news I could’ve asked for Christmas. Grew up with AMC and OLTL and miss them. Please let this get picked up and please let them do it right (then find a way to bring One Life to Live back to life). With Agnes Nixon’s son and Kelly & Mark involved I have hope.

YES! I grew up with these soaps, but never really cared for GH, when I really started watching them in college (97-02), especially once it became about the mob and was Sonny Corinthos-centric. I’m still bummed that after all that time, GH was the only one to be saved. AMC was the first soap I ever knew, and Erica Kane was probably the first adult human character I ever knew. As I got older, I would go back and forth between which one, AMC or OLTL, was my fave, but when it came down to the bitter “end,” AMC was my winner – there’s something to be said for a show that had its longevity AND a lot of the cast from when I was a kid (1980s). It’s sad though that a possible iteration won’t have Adam/Stuart Chandler, but we still have THE Susan Lucci, so fingers crossed!
I agree- I watch GH now and like it for its human interest stories but Sonny & Jason need to learn kindness and I don’t care for the violence. Bring back AMC & OLTL with as many originals as possible and soon!
I agree – I am getting tired of Sonny, Jason and Carly- they act so self righteous and are the worst characters- OLTL and AMC are sorely missed
I watched the show for many yes, and would love to see anything from pine valley, the Kanes the Martin’s the Chandlers, are welcome in my living room.,, anytime
OLTL was my favorite of the 2. Hadn’t liked GH for 2 decades. AMC was good, but the Erica and Adam spats, and Stuart’s happenings. Dr Joe and Tad the Cad. Like David Canary, too many are gone. They waited too long. They should have helped Prospect Park, when they had the chance. I wish them good luck with it, but ABC killed them both for GH? Nuts!
I too grew up with AMC being an extended part of my family and watched it from day one, and later on I added OLTL to the mix. I miss both of them terribly! It was a funeral when they ended as I lost so many much loved family members. Please revive AMC, there was still so much story to tell!

The script written by one of the Katy Keene writers? Oh lord, you know it’s gonna be bad. The plot sounded Riverdale-ish, anyway.
He also wrote for star and that show was amazing not to mention one of tv soaps legendary writers son involved you know mom gave him some tips

What is wrong with you wake up will be a train wreck. It’s the Kelly show she hates that Ryan stole her spot light with all his jobs she is doing this for attention. Will be like the online version all over again.
I am thrilled. I miss the daytime shows. I watched the online attempts to keep them going. Sadly they couldn’t capture the same magic as tv did.

There could definitely be something there — it would have to be smart and make fun of itself .. Something like Devious Maids or Desperate Housewives would be fun.
That would be awesome as I watch that show from the very beginning and the actors and actress were fanistic and seeing a lot of them on different shows to show their talent is great Hope this goes thru I will be watching..
Sounds Interesting. I have missed All My Children. Wondering whether the Martin clan will be included? I would love to check in with Tad(the cad) again. Michael E. Knight did such a great job helping to make him such an unforgettable character.
I always loved how Michael E. Knight seemed like a regular guy who happened to be a soap actor. He didn’t have that “model” or “soap actor” look that a lot of the people on soaps have, especially now.

If they pick it up from where the soap actually ended with as many original writers and characters…great. Can’t wait. If they do what Prospect Park did to the soap, storyline, etc. Forget about it!
Their not doing that it will be about Kelly’s character with probably 2 vets only Kelly will ruin AMC wake up Kelly needs attention.

I actually preferred Alicia Minshew’s version of Kendall. But then we would need Zach, and Thorsten Kaye is busy on B&B, and Ryan, if Cameron Mathison can come back. If the Santos family is going to be front and center, I definitely want to see Julia and Sydney Penny. There are lots of good characters it would be great to see again!
I can’t imagine they would do this without Susan Lucci.
Lucci is getting on in years, had some health issues a while back and hasn`t worked since 2017 (?) so hopefully a guest spot here and there, maybe a recurring role. I`d be happy with that.

Amazing idea can’t wait to be reunited, and meet some new friends even if their villains.
I wonder if anything that happened on PP revival will be cannon. I hope not and I doubt it. I’m mixed about this because I would like to see more of a revival with more OG casts members than a few OG cast with the rest being newbies. If done well though I would imagine they could have multiple guest appearances through out and in dialogue the audience can learn what many of the characters are doing now. It’s still pretty exciting. Hopefully it gets picked up.
