Famous in Love Officially Cancelled; Freeform Laments ‘Difficult Decision’
Famous in Love has taken its final bow at Freeform; the Bella Thorne drama will not return for a third season, TVLine has confirmed.
Despite reports of the series’ cancellation earlier this week, an official decision was made Friday. Below is Freeform’s official statement, as obtained by TVLine:
“We are proud to have had the opportunity to air Famous In Love. After many discussions we have made the difficult decision not to renew the show for a third season. We want to thank our colleagues at Warner Horizon and our incredible producers, writers, cast and crew, especially Marlene King, for their creativity, hard work and dedication.”
Based on the book series by Rebecca Serle, Famous in Love followed the exploits of a young actress named Paige Townsen (played by Thorne) who scores the lead role in Locked, a movie based on a supernatural romance novel. Executive-produced by Marlene King — whose new Freeform series Pretty Little Liars: The Perfectionists is slated to premiere in 2019 — the drama also starred Charlie DePew, Georgie Flores, Carter Jenkins, Keith Powers, Niki Koss, Pepi Sonuga and Perrey Reeves.
Last month’s season finale — which will now have to serve as the series finale — ended with Jordan (played by Powers) rushing up to rescue Tangey (Sonuga) from her abusive boyfriend/music partner (played by Romeo Miller). The episode ended with an ambulance arriving and EMT workers preparing a stretcher… but for whom?!

Every show I love ends up being canceled! This was a fun melodrama. Where will I go now for something other than another superhero show? Where will I go now for my weekly fix of the talented and adorable Georgie Flores?

The good shows always get cancelled and the ones that make no sense live on. It was a good show. If it was advertised more then maybe the ratings would have been higher. It’s def not because of lack of performance. Great show!!

I really liked the 9 Lives of Chloe King. Freeform is going to hell in a hand basket. It’s like they keep the shows that need to be canceled and get rid of the ones they need to keep.
Well Free Form is owned by Disney and Disney Channel does the same thing. DC canceled Girl Meets World (and told Free Form not to pick it up) but kept Bizardvark and Stuck In The Middle. And also NBC did the same thing with Timeless, it got canceled after s1 then everyone got pissed so they gave it a s2 then canceled it again but kept a show that had lower ratings than Timeless. Ugh!

Boo! I just finished season 2 on Stan. I never binge-watch shows and I watched 2 seasons in less than a week. I googled if season 3 was out yet and found out it’s cancelled! I’m soooo disappointed !!!

Omg I forgot about the nine lives of Chloe king I watched it and they ended that in a cliff hanger sorta too to me they should bring that back free form is not gonna have any viewers if they cancel the good ones they need to leave the tv show s that end up being new and do for some time till the director decides they ran out of plots

I couldn’t agree more! Freeform is going to lose its viewers if they keep cancelling all the shows that end on a cliffhanger. Perfect examples are Carrie Diaries, The Tomorrow People, Star Crossed, and now this! I am very disappointed in the way Freeform is leaving shows. I find it funny that all the shows they discontinue become very popular after the fact and have many angry responses when the shows are announced cancelled. Very disappointed in Freeform.
Freeform didn’t make those show the CW did and there just as bad with canceling good shows I loved star crossed and tomorrow ppl!!!

Oh man, Huge was amazing! I’m still sad we only got 10 episodes.
I still miss/mourn/lament the short run of Bunheads on a regular basis.

Freeform is a joke now. They took good care of Pretty Little Liars, but they handled the situations with Famous in Love and Shadowhunters like train wrecks. I guess they think if they tell the fans that cancelling both shows were tough decisions, then it’s supposed to make us feel better. All it’s doing is making people bailout of watching their network. The powers that be at Freeform seem pretty clueless right now
PLL was their baby, it lasted way longer than it should have. And now it’s getting a SECOND spinoff. Total bs.

I love Shadowhunters but I have this feeling that Clary is not dead she probably hanging off the building I hope she’s not and why do they always cancel the good show some people might stop watching if they take them away
I completely agree. They are canceling shows that people are really starting to get invested in. Shows barely have any time to become huge. Pretty little liars had 7 amazing years to develop fans and support and momentum. Famous in love barley had a year. I don’t know who thinks its a good idea to cancel all these shows. Its just not fair
The same reason networks only give shows lik 10-16 episodes in the first season now, because they don’t want to take risks any more. Used to they gave a show 20-22 episodes in the first season, threw it on tv and if people didn’t like it then it was like “it didn’t work, oh well” (the equivalent of ‘throw a kid in the water and they’ll learn how to swim’). Now a days they have so many shows just sitting around waiting to be put on air that they don’t care if they cancel something and piss people off.

I’m not surprised. The rumors about Ms. Thorne becoming a diva have been rampant on everything she has done recently. If you watched the second season carefully, it was very obvious that she was not happy with what she was doing. It was just a bunch of little things that came through. Even if their was a financial issue, as had been mentioned earlier in the week, the issues with Ms. Thorne sealed the show’s fate.
It’s too bad since the show was enjoyable.
Now that the show is over, little miss diva can go back to Instagram and take trashy pictures in her bra and underwear.
That’s unnecessary and bell throne can express her body anyway you had no problem watching when she was one of the main characters
Freeform is literally the worst network to get invested in. Every show gets cancelled on a cliffhanger. No wonder the ratings are laughable.
This was literally the first thing I learned when ABC Spark (Canada’s Freeform equivalent) launched. That nearly everything ends after 10 or 20 eps and very, very frequently on a cliffhanger to boot. Why do I keep coming back to their shows?

Agreed, which is why I love the CW. They canceled Nikita and gave the fans 6 more episodes to wrap up the storyline. The story was rushed but the ending was appreciated. This was the last show I was invested in at Freeform, I don’t like to watch channels that cancel for bad reasons, ABC and FreeForm are the two channels that I will not invest in anymore.
I am VERY HAPPY with all of the programming decisions Freeform has made recently! And I will remain a loyal and supportive Freeform viewer. When a show I like gets cancelled (on any network/platform) I just shrug and move on to another show. TV shows are not matters of life or death, people! Whiny, incessant stans seriously need to chill. And accept reality.
So many shows getting cancelled. I would be ok with a cancellation if they didn’t always end on cliffhanger s making you wonder what happened next. The tv entertainment needs to change the way things are handled before everyone quits picking up new shows all together. I’m truly disappointed new shows don’t have a chance and the sad thing is it’s not the shows at all but how they count the ratings. They really should consider all platforms when counting ratings. They also should give writers a heads up end your show without the cliffhanger because the ratings haven’t been that good. It’s very disrespectful to the fans To make us wonder what happened on a show they have been watching. But I guess that’s how it’s always been.
If they began counting all platforms for ratings there would be only PBS. Anyone who doesn’t watch live fast forwards past commercials, so they defeat the sponsors’ reason for funding the shows. Common sense says that’s bad business.

I have a theory that Tangey will be the one on the gernie because she was trying to get Pablo off of Jordan to keep him from cutting him the the broken bottle…..Or maybe something more ironic like Jordan is going to accidentally kill Pablo after just being let go for the murder of his moms ex boyfriend as self defense… second time killing someone after protecting the person who means the most to him.

what sucks the most is that we waited so long for Rainer and Paige to get together and now we will never get to see it. Why are all the shows that have potential being cancelled. At least try to get the show moved to Netflix or something. Keep this up and Freeform will have no more viewers
While I am still not happy that the show is canceled. I think I would be okay if they gave us like a 2 hour special where they showed the Locked movie or they resolved some of the issues that were part of the cliffhanger at the end of season 2. I just really want to see Paige and Rainer end up together and Tangey and Jordan. I love this show and I am so sad to see it go
