Amber Ruffin is bringing her jokes to the nation’s capital. The Late Night with Seth Meyers writer has been tapped to headline this year’s White House Correspondents’ Dinner, which takes place on April 26th in Washington, D.C. In a statement, WHCA president Eugene Daniels said that “(Ruffin’s) perspective will fit right in with the dinner’s tradition of honoring the freedom of the press while roasting the most powerful people on all sides of the aisle and the journalists who cover them.”
Meanwhile, per Deadline, Tiffany Haddish and Christopher Meloni are joining Katt Williams and Craig Robinson in Adam Rifkin’s Toad. The “offbeat, almost surreal type of comedy” follows two affable stoners who “accidentally find themselves in the service of crime lord” played by Robinson and inadvertently dose on a box of potent psychedelic frogs they’re meant to transport. Toad will be Laugh Factory Presents’ debut production.
The timeline, of course, is a laugh factory of its own today. Some of the funniest tweets include those about the perfect choice for a Black Panther recasting, Kansas City’s secret weapon and a valuable tax season tip.
