Entrepreneur and former Republican presidential candidate
Vivek Ramaswamy officially launched his campaign for Ohio governor in Cincinnati, promising to revive the state’s economy, reduce government interference, and champion conservative policies. Addressing a cheering crowd, Ramaswamy laid out his vision for Ohio, emphasising the need for economic growth, job creation, and state independence from federal influence.
“I want Ohio to be the best place to start a business, raise a family, and achieve the American dream. That’s what I am here to fight for,” he said. He vowed to make Ohio a business-friendly state by cutting unnecessary regulations that hinder entrepreneurship. He promised to attract major investments and industries to create high-paying jobs while reducing corporate tax burdens to encourage economic expansion.
Ramaswamy strongly criticised federal policies for limiting Ohio’s economic potential. “The bureaucratic stranglehold from Washington is suffocating innovation and opportunity. We will take our power back,” he said. He pledged to streamline bureaucracy and remove excessive restrictions on businesses, advocating a state-first approach to limit federal intervention in Ohio’s economic policies.
On education, Ramaswamy said he would overhaul Ohio’s education system to ensure students are equipped with practical skills rather than ideological teachings. “We need to let parents decide what’s best for their children. That’s why I fully support school choice,” he stated. He vowed to eliminate ideological bias in school curriculums and focus on a merit-based education system that prioritises skill development.
Ramaswamy also pledged to strengthen law enforcement and ensure safer communities. He criticised progressive criminal justice policies, arguing that they weaken public safety. “We need to stand by our law enforcement officers and give them the resources they need to do their jobs,” he said, promising better funding and support for police departments.
BREAKING NEWS: Vivek Ramaswamy Announces Run For Ohio Governor
Emphasising Ohio’s need for greater autonomy, Ramaswamy said the state must reclaim its sovereignty from federal overreach. “We need to put Ohioans first, not politicians or lobbyists. That’s my promise to you,” he said, vowing to challenge federal policies that he believes undermine Ohio’s economic and social stability.
Energy independence was another key focus of his campaign. Ramaswamy advocated increasing Ohio’s energy production and reducing dependence on federal and foreign energy sources. “We have the resources right here in Ohio. We need to unleash them,” he said, pledging to support fracking and other energy initiatives to boost local industries and jobs.
Ramaswamy’s announcement marks his return to electoral politics after his unsuccessful Republican presidential run. With the Ohio gubernatorial race expected to draw national attention, he positions himself as a pro-business, conservative alternative to the current administration.
