A 14-year-old boy has been charged with the murder of a 12-year-old, who was stabbed in the stomach while walking home from school in Birmingham.
The attack occurred on Tuesday, January 21, near Scribers Lane in Hall Green, where the victim Leo Ross was found injured at around 3.40 pm. He later died in hospital at 7.30 pm.
The accused, whose identity remains protected by law, was placed in custody on Saturday and is scheduled to appear before Birmingham magistrates court on Monday, according to West Midlands police.
A member of the public discovered Leo with a stomach wound in a wooded area near railway tracks, along his usual 10-minute route home from school.
The teenager has been charged with murder, six counts of assault, and possession of a bladed article, according to the police.
Earlier on Thursday, police revealed that the youth in custody for Leo's murder was also under investigation for three attacks on elderly individuals over three consecutive days, according to the Independent.
The suspect allegedly committed assaults against people in their 70s and 80s in the vicinity on Sunday, Monday and Tuesday.
The 14-year-old is facing charges of two counts of serious assault on a woman on January 19 and 20, two counts of assault on a woman on January 21 and October 22, and two counts of assaulting a police officer.
