The Bangladesh Air Force (BAF) installation at Cox's Bazar experienced an assault on Monday from the neighbouring Samiti Para region, as reported by the ISPR.
A press statement by ISPR assistant director Ayesha Siddiqua, said: "In response, the Bangladesh Air Force is taking necessary measures to address the situation."
Confirming the news, district commissioner of Cox's Bazar, Mohammad Salahuddin, told The Business Standard, "One person has been killed and several others injured in the incident." He further stated: "The cause of the clash will be investigated through discussions with both parties, and necessary measures will be taken."
According to Saiful Islam, who oversees the Cox's Bazar District Sadar Hospital police box, the incident occurred at approximately 12pm.
The police officer reported: "Shihab Kabir, 30, a local trader, was shot during the clash. He is the son of Nasir Uddin from Samiti Para of Ward 1."
The attack took place just hours after home affairs adviser, retired Lt Gen M Jahangir Alam Chowdhury, reaffirmed the government's commitment to maintaining law and order in a pre-dawn press conference. Speaking at his Dhaka residence, he accused allies of the ousted Awami League regime under deposed PM Sheikh Hasina of attempting to destabilize the country, vowing that they "will in no way be spared."
"We will ensure that terrorists cannot stand anywhere and prevent crimes at any cost," he said.
Field reports indicate that security personnel were restricting access to the area where the confrontation took place.
