Comedian Samay Raina's YouTube show 'India's Got Latent' has been in controversy. Throwback to the time when amidst the ongoing fuss an older video of Das discussing the Delhi High Court's definition of a stand-up comedian has resurfaced and gone viral. Das, who has faced legal challenges for his work in the past, advised fellow comedians to remember the court's ruling should they encounter legal issues.
In the video, from a DeadAnt show, a panel of multiple comedians including Ravina Rawal, Abhishek Upmanyu, Rohan Joshi, Anu Menon, Neeti Palta, and Karthik Kumar. The 'Go Goa Gone' actor recalled receiving numerous legal notices after his show 'Hasmukh' was released. He highlighted that the Delhi High Court, in a case involving 'Hasmukh,' officially defined what a stand-up comedian does.

Das then quoted the court's definition: "The job of a comedian is to take it to ridiculous places, to make it absurd, any resemblance it is not to be taken seriously, doesn’t warrant legal action".
The Delhi High Court's observation came during a case where they refused to halt the streaming of the web series 'Hasmukh' on Netflix.

The court stated, "The very essence of democracy is that a creative artist is given the liberty to project the picture of the society in a manner he perceives. One of the prime forms of exposing the ills of society is by portraying a satirical picture of the same. Stand-up comedians perform that very purpose. In their portrayal, they use satire and exaggerate the ills to an extent that it becomes a ridicule. In the humorous portrayal of the ills of society, the stand-up comedians use satire".

Das' resurfaced video and comments come as 'India's Got Latent,' hosted by Samay Raina, faces legal action for allegedly promoting obscenity and engaging in sexually explicit discussions. The controversy has also drawn reactions from members of parliament, who are calling for stricter regulations on social media content.
