Zomato recently announced that its parent company will be rebranded as "Eternal," sparking confusion among users who thought the popular food delivery app itself was changing its name. Addressing the mix-up, Zomato took to microblogging site X (formerly Twitter) with a lighthearted post, saying, "Guys, Eternal is the parent company - the app will remain Zomato 😭😭😭."
The food delivery company also shared an image of what appears to be a Zomato user’s message where she wrote “Bhai ye eternal kya h? Zomato band kar diya kya? Mera refund pending hai”.
Zomato CEO Deepinder Goyal recently announced that the board of directors has approved a resolution to rename the company Eternal Ltd. Goyal said that he is now seeking shareholder approval for the change, which will also involve transitioning the corporate website from zomato.com to eternal.com and updating the stock ticker from ZOMATO to ETERNAL.
According to the letter, Eternal Ltd. will serve as the parent entity for Zomato’s four key businesses: Zomato, Blinkit, Hyperpure, and District. Goyal also took to social media platform X (formerly Twitter) to confirm the rebranding and share the letter with a wider audience.

Commenting on the post, one user wrote “For lazy people like me, it was easy to find the Zomato app at the end of my phone’s list. Now I’ll have to search for it”. Another user wrote “Zomato changing its name to Eternal is like shifting to Lokhandwala from Malabar hills”.
