Elon Musk has confirmed that a new Grok feature is coming soon. Just a day after announcing an early beta voice feature for the chatbot developed by his AI startup xAI, the tech billionaire once again took to the social media platform X (earlier Twitter) to share another update about this Grok feature.
Take a look at the post here
“Major improvement coming to Grok Voice tomorrow night!,” Musk wrote while responding to another post that praised Grok’s newly released voice feature and included some examples of the same.
What is Grok’s new voice feature
Available on Grok’s iPhone app this feature lets users interact with the AI using voice commands and receive spoken responses. However, it remains limited to select testers and is hidden behind feature flags, so it isn’t fully public yet. Android users will have to wait for upcoming updates as the feature stabilises.
Currently, the voice feature is available only to Premium+ X users and SuperGrok subscribers. However, xAI is expected to offer access to a wider audience as it refines the feature.
As Musk mentioned in his post, users may experience bugs and glitches in the early beta phase. However, rapid updates are expected to address these issues.
The voice mode is designed to transform Grok into a conversational companion, moving away from the typical "type and wait" method towards a more engaging, spoken interaction.
Users who can enable the voice feature will be able to select the "Sal" voice and start chatting with the chatbot.
This voice integration is part of the Grok 3 rollout, which also brings other updates like DeepSearch. While Grok 3 offers several enhancements, the voice feature is particularly notable for its interactive and practical appeal.
Musk had been hinting at this feature since late 2024. Last week, during a demo he confirmed that the company would debut it within a week.
