Brazil's top court says Elon Musk’s X paid fines to wrong bank

Elon Musk’s X, formerly known as Twitter, paid millions of dollars as fine in Brazil, but to a wrong account. Brazil's Supreme Court said on Friday that lawyers representing the microblogging platform X did not pay pending fines to the right bank. Supreme Court Justice Alexandre de Moraes confirmed that X had paid the full amount but into a different account, due to which the court had to postpone its decision on whether to allow the tech firm to resume services in Brazil.
Moraes also determined that once fines are sorted out, Brazil's prosecutor general will give his opinion on the recent requests made by X's legal team in Brazil, which has been seeking to have the platform restored in the country.

X was fined and banned in Brazil in late August after a Supreme Court judge in the country ordered X shut down after Musk refused to remove dozens of accounts that reportedly spread hate speech and misinformation as well as failed to name a new legal representative in the country as ordered.
After a legal battle, X and Starlink accounts were frozen and a fine of 18.35 million reais ($3.3 million) from the accounts was transferred to the national coffers. However, the ban on the X has not been lifted.
The company was recently told to pay over $5 million in pending fines, including a new one, before it will be allowed to resume its service in the country, a report said.
