Apple has discontinued three iPhone models, including the iPhone SE, iPhone 14, and iPhone 14 Plus, following the announcement of the new iPhone 16e smartphone. This’ll be the first time Apple has pulled a mainline iPhone from its lineup mid-cycle.
The iPhone 16e, priced at Rs 59,900, directly replaces the iPhone 14 at the same price point while offering significant upgrades including the new A18 chip, 48MP Fusion camera, and Apple Intelligence compatibility. The third-generation iPhone SE, previously Apple's most affordable iPhone at Rs 47,600 has been completely discontinued with no direct budget-friendly replacement.
With these changes, Apple has eliminated all small-screen phones from its lineup and completed its transition away from devices with Lightning ports, Touch ID, and LCD displays. The company's current iPhone portfolio now consists of the iPhone 15, iPhone 15 Plus, iPhone 16, iPhone 16 Plus, iPhone 16 Pro, iPhone 16 Pro Max, and the new iPhone 16e.
While the iPhone 14 has been removed from Apple's website, it will still be available through channel partners. However, customers seeking a large-screen iPhone at a lower price point will now need to opt for the more expensive iPhone 15 Plus, as the iPhone 14 Plus has been completely discontinued.
The new iPhone 16e will be available for preorder starting February 21, with devices shipping on February 28.
