Evander Kane has been through a tough time, which eventually led to his divorce. He was investigated by NHL, accused of sexual assault and domestic violence and then separated from his ex wife; all of this happened in 2021. But in 2019, the star player was sued by a casino in Las Vegas for a whopping $500,000 and a year later, he filed for bankruptcy.

Evander Kane Was Sued For Being Unable To Pat $500,000, Months Before He Declared Bankruptcy





The casino in Las Vegas, named The Cosmopolitan, filed a lawsuit in November 2019 where it accused the star player of not paying $500,000 that he was given as gambling markers, as per the Las Vegas Review-Journal. As per the lawsuit, Evander Kane used to visit the popular casino in Las Vegas when his former team, the San Jose Sharks, was playing in the playoffs against the Vegas Golden Knights.


The popular Las Vegas casino also accused the star player of withdrawing markers between $20,000 and $100,000 in April 2019 when his team was playing the playoff series in the town.

Months later, in January 2021, Evander Kane filed for Chapter 7 bankruptcy. As per ESPN, the star played filed for a whopping $1.5 million that he had lost due to gambling.


A few months into 2021, Evander Kane was accused by his ex wife, Anna Kane of betting on his hockey games in the NHL. This caused a huge controversy and the NHL decided to conduct an investigation for it. At that point, the star player’s former team San Jose Sharks suspended him from the Spring Training.

But luck was on Evander Kane’s side since a few months later NHL declared him to be innocent after being unable to find any sort of evidence against him that hinted at betting on NHL games.


Coming back to the lawsuit filed by the casino in Las Vegas, in 2020, the casino actually dropped the lawsuit. It is not known what caused the lawsuit to be dropped but there are speculations that the casino and Evander Kane engaged in an out of court settlement.
