Oilers' Evander Kane faced NHL investigation and suspension following serious allegations from ex-wife Anna Kane

Evander Kane, the star player of the Edmonton Oilers, has been involved in a bitter divorce battle with his ex wife Anna Kane. But at one point in his life, his bitter separation from his ex wife also had a huge impact on his career. In 2021, Evander Kane reached a point in his career where he had to be investigated by the National Hockey League, causing a huge blow to the trust fans had in him.


Three years ago, in 2021, Evander Kane’s ex wife Anna Kane filed for divorce and released a statement on social media. She accused him of financial negligence, domestic assault and betting on NHL games.
These accusations sent shockwaves across the league and fans were disappointed in Evander Kane. However, the NHL did not take these allegations lightly and released a statement that highlighted the seriousness of the accusations and how they would be handling it.
In its statement, the NHL said, “The League was made aware this evening of a post on social media alleging that San Jose Shark’s Evander Kane bet on NHL games. The integrity of our game is paramount and the League takes these allegations very seriously.”
The statement then went on to speak about how the NHL would be conducting an investigation of its own to verify the betting allegations against Evander Kane.
At that time, Evander Kane was playing for the San Jose Sharks and denied all allegations against him and released a statement on social media for it. San Jose Sharks made a statement where the team suspended Evander Kane from attending the Training Camp until the investigation was completed.
A few weeks later, the NHL announced that it had completed its investigation against the betting allegations regarding Evander Kane and had found no evidence for it. The NHL said, it “found no evidence to support those allegations, or allegations that Mr. Kane made any effort to negatively impact his own Club’s games.”
While Evander Kane was declared innocent, a few months later the San Jose Sharks terminated his contract for breaking COVID-19 protocols and that’s how he ended up joining the Edmonton Oilers.
It has been a few years since then and now Evander Kane is engaged to another woman and is busy raising his children. His ex wife, Anna Kane, revealed she was one of Sean "Diddy" Combs victim of sexual assault in December 2024.
