Johnny Gaudreau, the late star player of the Columbus Blue Jackets, left the world too soon when he was struck by an alleged drunk driver in August 2024. It was a double tragedy for the Gaudreau family since his younger brother, Matthew, also passed away with him. As Team USA gear up for the final match against Team USA in the 4 Nations Face Off, Sportsnet shared a post on their Instagram which showed how Team USA is honouring Johnny Gaudreau. In a heartbreaking tribute, Team USA has hung Johnny Gaudreau’s jersey in their locker room. Sportsnet shared the image on their social media with the caption that read as, “Johnny Gaudreau forever ❤️ #4Nations”.
Now, Johnny Gaudreau’s wife shared the post on her Instagram with the word “Forever” as a caption. She also shared a picture from their date night in 2024 and added how she misses her “date” now.
A few hours later NHLPA shared a picture of Team USA honouring Johnny through his jersey and added the caption, “Everything for Johnny”. Johnny Gaudreau’s wife reshared the post on her story and wrote, "These little captions ❤️ "U deserve it all Reggie. So proud of you. Ur impact amazes me every single day, but it does not surprise me. I always knew how perfect you were. Luckiest girl in the world"
Johnny Gaudreau’s wife also shared a video of Matthew Tkachuk where he opened up about the impact Johnny’s death had on the team.
Johnny Gaudreau’s death shocked the world as he was one of the most popular and talented players in the National Hockey League. He was just 31 year old and was just getting started when his life was tragically cut short.
To make matters worse, in a heartbreaking speech, Johnny Gaudreau’s wife, Meredith Gaudreau revealed on 9th September, a few days after his death, that she is pregnant with their third child.
Johnny Gaudreau had two children with his wife Meredith Gaudreau as the Gaudreau family is yet to welcome their child.
The alleged drunk motorist who killed Johnny and his brother recently plead not guilty but remains jailed.
