Recently, it was revealed that the UK government had requested Apple for backdoor access to user data. Data, that even Apple itself was not privy to in some instances. While the company refused, it also disabled ‘Advanced Data Protection’ for the UK customers. Basically, there is no more end-to-end encryption for UK users. Friends across the pond were concerned if Android and Google are up to something similar, especially UFC commentator and podcaster
Joe Rogan. But he seems to be satisfied for now.
Joe Rogan is ready to make a switch, but first, let's ask Google
After it was revealed that Apple can no longer offer ADP to new users in the UK, Joe Rogan has not sat still. He took to his X (formerly Twitter) account to post
"This is insanely fucked up, but the question is did @Google do the same thing with Android?
RCS texts are encrypted, but does the UK government have the same access to Android phones? If not, it’s a great motivation to switch platforms."
It looks like he is ready to make a switch to Android after this Apple debacle. Or at least it is a pretty "great motivation" for him to make the switch. And after the recent clarification by Google, it seems even more likely.
Google responds to Joe Rogan's concerns regarding data privacy
Google took little time to respond to Joe Rogan's queries, letting him know that Android backups are encrypted.
"Android backups are encrypted and no one can access them except you; it’s been that way since 2018."

This is not the first time that the podcaster has spoken up on matters of importance. Rogan has always been very transparent about his stance on being vocal about things people should be informed about. And this is just another example of the same.
