“Your main objective is only you and the picture. If you can focus on just that and isolate everything else out of your mind, your success rate technically is better.” According to Barry Bonds, the focus of the hitter should always be on the opponent which can help him create the much needed contact with the ball and improve his hitting prowess. Bonds comes from a family of athletes which helped him develop a sportsperson's mentality. With an illustrious baseball career that spans over two decades, Bonds has the record of making 762 home runs in his baseball career.

The popular designated hitter of the Los Angeles Dodgers Shohei Ohtani stands out in the race of baseball athletes during the current era. The former San Francisco Giants alum joined the Foul Territory podcast during the 100th Baseball Writers Dinner organized in New York. While talking about the recent changes in the Baseball fraternity, Bonds even mentioned the Japanese athlete Shohei Ohtani. According to the MLB star, Ohtani should focus on being a designated hitter. Her said-
“I think he needs to stay at DH and do what he does best. (Pitching) is going to tire him out. It’s just too much on him. I think what he does and what he brings to that team right now, why change something that’s going great?”This came as a reaction to the speculation around Shohei Ohtani going ahead with pitching from the upcoming season. The 14-times All-Star strongly believes that Ohtani should not deviate from hitting to pitching. During the 2024 season, Ohtani emerged as one of the most popular designated hitters and even won his second MVP Award, the Silver Slugger Award, the Edgar Martinez Outstanding Designated Hitter Award, and the Hank Aaron Award.
