Supercell just announced the new Clash Royale Hunter Evolution coming at the start of Season 69. This evolution can be unlocked in the diamond packs or with six Evolution Shards. Evolutions typically grant buffs to the original card giving a significant edge in a fight. However, with the new Clash Royale Hunter Evolution, the base stats for the card remains unaltered but instead grants him a special ability. This ability is seemingly overpowered and is about to shake up the meta massively.
Having said that, let’s deep dive into the Clash Royale Hunter Evolution, discuss his new abilities, and how it interacts with other cards in the game.

Clash Royale Hunter Evolution's special ability: What is it called and how does it work?

The Hunter Evolution has a two stage evolution cycle meaning the card needs to be deployed two times in the arena before activating his evolved power the third time. The Hunter Evolution has a powerful new ability that throws a net at the nearest enemy troop, preventing it from moving or attacking. Not only does this ability work with ground troops but also traps enemy air troops bringing it to the ground, exposing it for attack from ground troops.
The Hunter Evolution’s net basically functions as a single target freeze spell that stays active for four seconds. He is able to fire multiple nets back to back during this four second period keeping the affected troop immobilized indefinitely. This ability is so powerful that it can counter almost all tanks in the game with ease.
Clash Royale Hunter Evolution is going to be a game changer as all air troops are now indirectly nerfed. High elixir air beatdown decks like Lava-Loon, can now be countered with a single four elixir Hunter Evolution. When dealing with long range troops like Musketeers, the Hunter Evolution can net them down indefinitely denying them any chance of shooting at him while he takes them down. Troops that charge up to attack like the Sparky or Inferno Dragon will have their charge reset with the net.

Limitation of the Hunter Evolution in Clash Royale

The Hunter Evolution can only throw only one net at a time towards the nearest enemy. So when dealing with multiple enemies, he stays vulnerable to the attacks of other units around him. The net also doesn’t work against buildings like the X-bow or Cannon, rendering him ineffective for attacks against such defensive decks. If a split enemy troop like Elixir Golem or Battle Ram gets destroyed/split while being immobilized in his net, the net gets destroyed.
