India vs Pakistan, Champions Trophy 2025 Highlights: Virat Kohli's unbeaten ton powers India to six-wicket win over Pakistan in Dubai

India vs Pakistan Live Score, Champions Trophy 2025: Virat Kohli once again proved his supremacy against Pakistan in ICC tournaments, delivering a scintillating unbeaten century to power India to a commanding six-wicket victory in their Champions Trophy clash in Dubai on Sunday.

The win propelled India to the top of Group A with four points, virtually securing a semifinal berth, while Pakistan faced the threat of an early exit after suffering their second consecutive defeat.

Chasing a challenging 242, India rode on Kohli’s 51st ODI century (100 off 111 balls), Shreyas Iyer’s composed 56 off 67 balls, and Shubman Gill’s fluent 46 off 52 balls* to seal the chase with over seven overs to spare.

Kohli, who has endured a lean patch recently, found his rhythm at the perfect moment, becoming the fastest batter to reach 14,000 ODI runs during his innings. His knock, featuring seven exquisite boundaries, dismantled Pakistan’s hopes as their premier pacers Shaheen Shah Afridi and Haris Rauf struggled to make an impact after Afridi castled Rohit Sharma (20 off 15) early with a fiery yorker.

Pakistan’s leg-spinner Abrar Ahmed posed a few tricky moments for Kohli, but the Indian stalwart tackled him smartly, rotating the strike rather than taking risks. However, the Pakistan pacers provided Kohli with enough loose deliveries to capitalize on.

At the other end, Iyer played a variety of delightful strokes, with a standout 103-meter six off Salman Agha, as he shared a 114-run third-wicket stand with Kohli. His innings ended controversially when Imam-ul-Haq took a stunning catch at cover off Khushdil Shah, though replays hinted that the ball might have touched the ground. However, by that point, India had already shut the door on Pakistan.
Bowlers Set Up India’s Victory

India’s bowlers set the tone for the match by restricting Pakistan to 241 all out in 49.4 overs. Kuldeep Yadav led the attack with 3/40, while Hardik Pandya and Axar Patel provided crucial breakthroughs.

Pakistan’s innings was anchored by Saud Shakeel (62 off 76) and Mohammad Rizwan (46), who stitched together a 104-run partnership for the third wicket. However, their scoring rate remained sluggish, and at one stage, they endured a 55-ball boundary drought.

Earlier, Babar Azam (23) and Imam-ul-Haq (10) failed to capitalize on starts. Babar looked in fine touch with some elegant cover drives but perished attempting another drive off Hardik Pandya, edging to KL Rahul behind the stumps. Imam was run out after a direct hit from Axar Patel at mid-on, leaving Pakistan at 47/2 in a pressure-filled encounter.

Pakistan's hopes dwindled further when Rizwan lost his stumps while charging down the track against Axar, and Shakeel, who had played the pull shot effectively, mistimed one off Pandya, giving a simple catch to Axar in the deep.

The lower order crumbled as Salman Agha, Afridi, and Naseem Shah fell victim to Kuldeep’s wizardry, tightening India’s grip on the contest.

A late cameo from Khushdil Shah (38 off 39), including the first six of Pakistan’s innings, pushed the total past 240, but it was never going to be enough against an in-form Kohli.

The way we started with the ball was superb. We knew it gets slightly better to bat under lights. We backed our experience to get the runs. Credit goes to guys like, Axar, Kuldeep and Jadeja. They stitch a very good partnership - Rizwan and Shakeel. It was important not to let the game drift away. Not to forget the way Hardik, Shami and Harshit bowled as well. We've played a lot together, this format. It can be quite tricky at times. Axar and Kuldeep stepped up today. (On Kohli) He loves representing the country. He wants to be out there. We've seen it with him over the years. People in the dressing room are not surprised. It (hamstring) is okay at the moment.

Rohit Sharma - India skipper

We won the toss, but we didn't get the benefit of toss. Their bowlers bowled very well. Me and Saud Shakeel, we wanted to take it deep. Poor shot selection. They put us under pressure. Whenever you lose, you didn't perform in all departments. We wanted to squeeze, but we couldn't. Kohli and Gill batted very well and took the game away. We need to improve in our fielding. We did a lot of mistakes in this match.

Mohammad Rizwan - Pakistan skipper

22:01 (IST) Feb 23

To be honest, it feels good to be able to bat in that manner in an important game to seal qualification. Feels good to contribute in a game where we lost Rohit early, and had to put in the understanding of what we learnt in the last game. My job was to control the middle overs against the spinners without taking too many risks, towards the end Shreyas accelerated and I got a few boundaries as well. It allowed me to play my usual ODI game. I have a decent understanding of my game, it is about keeping the outside noise away, staying in my space and taking care of my energy levels and thoughts. Very easy to get pulled into the expectations. My job is to stay in the present and do a job for the team. My keynotes to myself to put my 100% every ball in the field, and then God eventually rewards you. Having clarity is important, it was important to understand that you need to get runs when there is pace on the ball, otherwise the spinners can dictate things. Shubman did well against Shaheen, taking him up. There’s a reason he’s the number one batter of the world. It was necessary to get about 60-70 runs in the powerplay, or we’d always be chasing the game. And there Shreyas is really coming into his own at number 4. Did well in India, and now out here as well. (On having a week off) To be honest, at 36, it feels really good. I will put my feet up for a few days as it takes a lot out of me to put that kind of effort into every game.

India vs Pakistan Live Score: DRINKS!

Time for the last drinks interval, and India hold complete control of the proceedings.

Although Shubman Gill's dismissal could have shifted momentum towards Pakistan, and Abrar Ahmed maintained tight lines, his fellow bowlers couldn't sustain the pressure. A few spilled catches have further dented Pakistan's prospects. Virat Kohli appears to be back in his characteristic form after quite some time, whilst Shreyas Iyer has transformed his cautious beginning into a meaningful knock. Given India's batting depth extending to the eighth position, Pakistan appears to be in a difficult situation and requires something extraordinary to turn this around.

India vs Pakistan Live Score: How Hardik Pandya broke Pakistan’s resistance

TimesofIndia.com in Dubai

For two matches in a row, there was slowburn in the middle-overs when India were bowling at the Dubai International Stadium. Against Bangladesh, on February 20, and during the Pakistan game today, the opposite camp seemed content by just rotating the strike when there was a heavy dose of spin. Risk percentage was very minimal in both games and it meant the Men in Blue remained wicketless for a combined 53.2 overs.

They did manage to suck momentum out of the innings on both occasions but the wickets column didn't see any additions before Hardik Pandya created that opportunity, only for Harshit Rana to make a mess of the running catch in the deep. Pandya was furious, at first, but maintained composure. Even when he was about to release the steam on multiple occasions, the all-rounder did well to keep it inside.

He almost had Mohammad Rizwan but the Pakistan skipper got a life off the last delivery of the 33rd over. The wicketkeeper-batter had been out in the middle for 76 deliveries and seemed itchy to make a move on as there were far too many dot balls during the stand with Saud Shakeel. Rizwan knew it was time to step on the gas and gave India the opening they were looking for. Axar Patel ended the long wait and Rana would have taken a sigh of relief as Rizwan was cleaned up for 46, just one delivery after that drop.

Relief followed for Pandya next over as he scalped Saud Shakeel and Pakistan lost their set pair in quick succession. They say one brings two but for India it was three as Ravindra Jadeja, too, opened his account when he knocked timber in the 37th over.

India vs Pakistan Live Score: Virat Kohli reaches 14,000 ODI runs

Virat Kohli ticked along to 14,000 runs in One Day International (ODI) cricket in his 299th match against Pakistan in the Champions Trophy on Sunday. The right-handed batter collected his milestone run off Haris Rauf in the 13th over of India's chase of 242 runs in the Group A fixture.

Kohli had entered the contest on 13985 runs, needing 15 runs for the big mark, from 286 innings. The 36-year-old has scored 50 centuries and 73 fifties in his ODI career.

Virat brought up the mark with a classy drive that beat the in-field and ran off to the boundary rope for a four.

The 36-year-old is second on the list of most runs for India in ODIs. The list is helmed by legendary Sachin Tendulkar who collected 18,426 runs during his 23-year career.

Tendulkar is also the highest-scorer overall in ODI cricket. The second on the list is former Sri Lanka batter Kumar Sangakkara who scored 14,234 runs during his storied 15-year career.

In the contest in Dubai, Pakistan's Saud Shakeel and skipper Mohammad Rizwan hit gritty knocks to take the tournament hosts to 241 all out.

Pakistan stuttered after the left-handed Shakeel, who hit 62, and Rizwan, who made 46, added 104 in a slow but solid third-wicket partnership.

But a late cameo by left-hander Khushdil Shah boosted the Pakistan total on a seemingly sluggish pitch.

Khushdil was the last batter out for 38 as the innings folded on 49.4 overs.

India's left-arm wrist spinner Kuldeep Yadav returned figures of 3-40.

A defeat to India, who won their first match against Bangladesh, will severely dent Pakistan's chances of making the semi-finals.

India vs Pakistan Live Score: Hardik Pandya joins 200-wicket club in international cricket

Indian all-rounder Hardik Pandya on Sunday reached a significant milestone, claiming his 200th international wicket across formats. He achieved this feat during India's crucial ICC Champions Trophy clash against Pakistan in Dubai.

Known for his explosive batting and effective seam bowling, Hardik has been a vital asset for India across all formats. He was at his best during the match, delivering an impressive spell of 2/31 in eight overs at an economy rate of 3.87. He dismissed Pakistan’s star batter Babar Azam, who was in attacking form, and later removed a well-set Saud Shakeel, who had reached a half-century.

In 216 international matches, Hardik has taken 200 wickets at an average of 30.76, with his best figures being 5/28 — his only five-wicket haul in international cricket. He currently ranks as the 24th-highest wicket-taker in Indian cricket history.

In 11 Tests, he has taken 17 wickets at an average of 31.05, with a best of 5/28. His ODI record includes 89 wickets in 91 matches at an average of 35.26, with best figures of 4/24.

In T20Is, Hardik has claimed 94 wickets in 114 games at an average of 26.43, with a best of 4/16.

Hardik continues to shine against Pakistan in ODIs, now boasting 10 wickets at an average of 24.60, with his best figures of 2/31 coming in this high-stakes encounter.

On the match front, Saud Shakeel and skipper Mohammad Rizwan played gritty knocks to help Pakistan reach 241 all out against arch-rivals India.

Pakistan, the defending champions, opted to bat first in this must-win encounter after losing to New Zealand in their tournament opener. A defeat against India, who started with a win over Bangladesh, would severely dent their semi-final hopes.

After an early wobble, left-hander Shakeel (62) and Rizwan (46) steadied the innings with a slow but solid 104-run partnership for the third wicket. However, their dismissals triggered another collapse before a late cameo from Khushdil Shah (38) provided a much-needed boost on a sluggish pitch.

Pakistan's innings wrapped up in 49.4 overs, with India's left-arm wrist spinner Kuldeep Yadav shining with figures of 3/40.

India vs Pakistan Live Score: Virat Kohli becomes India's leading catch-taker in ODIs

Virat Kohli broke the tie with Mohammad Azharuddin and is now the Indian player with most catches in ODI cricket. The 36-year-old reached 158 catches in 50-over matches in his 299th ODI match, playing against Pakistan in the Champions Trophy on Sunday.

Kohli reached the milestone in the 47th over of the Pakistan innings, who had decided to bat after winning the toss in Dubai. With Naseem Shah on strike, Kuldeep Yadav forced him to play an uppish drive which went flying to Kohli at long-on who slid forward and completed the catch with ease.

Virat then ticked his tally along further with the catch of Khushdil Shah, the last wicket to fall for Pakistan, who finished on 241 runs. Shah's slog sweep went towards deep mid-wicket where Kohli was a safe pair of hands.

Azharuddin had taken 334 matches for his 156 catches in ODI cricket. Among the current players, Rohit Sharma is next up with only 96 catches in 270 matches.

Kohli is third in the list of most catches as a fielder in ODIs. Sri Lanka's Mahela Jayawardene holds the record for most catches in the 50-over format with 218 of them. Former Australian captain Ricky Ponting has the second-most with 160 wickets. Kohli, thus, has moved within two of the ex-Aussie batter.

I could have easily taken some more time there, it was not a good time to get out.

Earlier, the ball wasn't coming onto the bat that nicely. Little bit of swing as well. As the spinners came, we made some runs there. The pitch was slightly on the slower side. We have to put up a fight there. If we take early wickets, we can put pressure on them. We have to strike early.

103 More Updates
IND vs PAK Live Score: Virat Kohli once again lived up to his ‘Chase Master’ reputation, delivering a stunning unbeaten century to lead India to a six-wicket victory over Pakistan in their Champions Trophy group-stage clash on Sunday in Dubai.

Despite Pakistan throwing everything at him, Kohli remained the ultimate hurdle they failed to overcome, orchestrating a masterclass to push India closer to the semifinals while pushing Pakistan to the brink of elimination.

In the process, Kohli became the fastest player to reach 14,000 ODI runs, further cementing his legacy in world cricket.

Chasing 242, India got off to a brisk start as Rohit Sharma took on Naseem Shah, playing some fiery strokes. However, Shaheen Afridi struck early, cleaning up Rohit's middle stump with a perfect inswinging yorker to dismiss him for 20 off 15 balls.

With India at 31/1, Shubman Gill and Kohli steadied the innings with a balance of caution and aggression. Gill played the aggressor, while Kohli anchored the chase, ensuring India didn’t lose momentum.

Skipper Mohammad Rizwan introduced Haris Rauf into the attack, hoping for a breakthrough. He nearly succeeded when Gill mistimed a pull shot to Khushdil Shah, but the fielder dropped a straightforward chance—an early sign of Pakistan’s struggles.

Despite the missed opportunity, Abrar Ahmed finally got the breakthrough, deceiving Gill with a carrom ball that turned sharply. Gill, caught off guard, departed for a well-made 46 off 52 balls, ending a 69-run second-wicket stand.

With the chase still in balance, Shreyas Iyer joined Kohli, and the duo built a match-defining partnership. While Kohli relied on precise shot selection, Iyer countered the Pakistan attack with reverse sweeps and aggressive stroke play.

Kohli reached his 74th ODI half-century in style, driving the ball to the boundary with finesse. Despite Pakistan trying different bowlers, they found no way past the formidable Kohli-Iyer duo.

In the 31st over, Iyer danced down the track and launched a massive six over deep mid-wicket, showcasing his attacking intent. He reached his 21st ODI fifty in the 37th over, keeping India firmly in control.

However, Imam-ul-Haq’s stunning catch off Khushdil Shah ended Iyer’s innings on 56 off 67 balls, giving Pakistan a glimmer of hope.

Hardik Pandya came in with an attacking mindset, smashing a boundary before falling for 8 off 6 balls, caught behind off Shaheen. But by then, India was in complete command.

With victory within reach, Kohli continued to grind towards his 51st ODI century. He brought it up in classic style, driving the ball elegantly through the covers to seal the six-wicket win with more than seven overs to spare.

This masterful knock not only secured India's dominance over Pakistan in ICC events but also reinforced Kohli’s legacy as one of the greatest chasers in ODI history.
