One of the most well-known and largest penguins is the Emperor species and they are famous for the yellow-orange patches on the head and neck, and a deep, trumpet-like call. These penguins huddle together in cold, harsh climates and look adorable in their natural habitats.

The Galapagos penguin is the only penguin species found north of the equator that has adapted to living in warm, tropical climates. These penguins are much smaller in size and have black heads with white band across their necks.

One of the most unique looking penguins, the Crested ones have a yellow-orange, mane-like crest above their eyes which makes them look like a wild animal crossed with a penguin. Plus, instead of waddling, these usually are seen hopping around.

The Fiordland penguin is one of the rarest penguin species, found only in the remote forests of New Zealand’s Fiordland area. These penguins are pretty spooky to look at as they have dark red eyes, a yellow patch of hair just above them, and a unique call.

Evident in the name, the Chinstrap penguins are unique for they have a black chinstrap-like marking over their plain white face. In fact, their arms too have a mix of white and light hues of pink underneath.
