Will Opus Dei sue Brown?

Not many people in India know about the ���real work of Opus Dei���. Rather many, fed on The Da Vinci Code fare, imagine it to be a secretive society of priests dressed in black hooded robes sitting in a dark chamber quietly planning a murder conspiracy to be unveiled in the Vatican or the White House. Nothing, the Opus Dei says, is farther from the truth.
Three years back when Dan Brown���s novel hit the stands, the Catholic Church - and Opus Dei as one of its arms - was hit by a wave of bad, undesirable publicity.The plot of the novel centered on an investigation showing Opus Dei as keeper of a deep Church secret that pointed to Jesus Christ being a man and father to children from a woman called Mary Magdelena.
At that point, and later, when a film based on the novel hit the screens, the church and Opus Dei did, among other ways, consider moving court against The Da Vinci Code author Dan Brown for defamation.
That they did not eventually sue him is something that has intrigued many and added to the mystery the novel has tried to sell.
