BHOPAL/LUCKNOW: Seven Kumbh pilgrims lost their lives and at least 15 were injured in three road accidents in Madhya Pradesh reported since Sunday, while three Nepalese nationals were among six devotees killed and 11 others were injured in three separate mishaps in Uttar Pradesh on Monday.
The 13 deaths have taken the toll in such accidents to 141 so far. Four friends in their mid-20s were killed and five were injured when their car plunged from a culvert into a ditch near Amiliya in MP's Sidhi when they were on their way to Prayagraj. In Chhatarpur, a 25-year-old doctor, Sanya, was killed and four members of her family were critically injured when their car slammed into a parked truck early Monday.
On Sunday night, an elderly couple from Jabalpur died and six others of their group were injured when their vehicle overturned in MP's Maihar district on their way back from Kumbh.
Three Nepalese pilgrims, including two women, were killed and five others injured when their SUV rammed into a culvert in Majhgawan area of Uttar Pradesh's Azamgarh. In another accident, three members of a family from Bharatpur in Rajasthan were killed and two others sustained injuries when a truck hit their car in UP's Etawah.
Four devotees from Uttarakhand, returning from Kumbh were injured when their car overturned in Amethi.
