IITian Baba Abhay Singh's mark-sheet goes viral

Abhay Singh's academic life was a chain of praiseworthy victories, which testified to his mental intelligence. According to ET reports, his 10th and 12th standard mark-sheets, recently made public, indicate the strength of his intellectual capability. Abhay scored 93% in the 10th board examinations and 92.4% in the 12th standard exams. These were the beginning of his work ethic and mental power and set him apart from his contemporaries.
Abhay's good academic life earned him admission into India's top institution, IIT Bombay. His entry test score, an All India Rank (AIR) 731 in the 2008 IIT-JEE exam, was the best in the nation. With his good academic life and admission to IIT Bombay, Abhay was ready to enjoy a lucrative career in aerospace engineering, a course of study that was among the most sought-after.

IITian Baba Abhay Singh transformation from engineer to seeker of spirituality

Though academically successful, the professional life of Abhay Singh took a surprising turn. As per ET reports, after graduating with a Bachelor of Technology (B.Tech) in Aerospace Engineering degree from IIT Bombay in 2012, rather than career growth awaiting him in the future, he gave up all such opportunities. Instead of taking the usual path as expected for an engineer, Abhay decided to give up the field of worldly possessions to take the path of spiritual discovery and self-discovery.
Despite excelling in his academic pursuits and being poised for a promising career in aerospace engineering, Abhay chose an unconventional route. He turned his back on lucrative job offers and the traditional markers of success, opting instead for a life dedicated to spiritual growth. This dramatic shift was motivated by his desire to seek deeper meaning and purpose beyond the material world. Abhay immersed himself in studying ancient scriptures, practicing meditation, and exploring various spiritual disciplines.
This change left everyone stunned, with Abhay having been one of the star students who excelled in academic results and landed a very bright job offer. But he claimed he made this decision due to an insatiable desire for inner peace and self-discovery. Abhay disclosed that he spent three years working in Canada, earning a whopping salary of Rs 36 lakh per annum. But in spite of all the money, he said that material wealth could not make him feel satisfied or give him the sense of inner peace that he yearned for. He decided to leave this prosperous lifestyle behind and devote himself to philosophy and spirituality.

Abhay Singh's journey of creative exploration before spirituality

Before fully devoting himself to his spiritual way, Abhay Singh did not just focus solely on books. He expanded his frontiers by pursuing other disciplines such as a Master's in Design (MDes) and experimenting with photography as per the reports. These served to unlock his creative side, which, together with his intellectual inclination, made a rich groundwork for his subsequent spiritual awakening.
Abhay's journey towards spirituality was also greatly influenced by the pursuit of philosophy. He was inspired by the works of great thinkers such as Socrates and Plato, whose philosophical thoughts on knowledge, truth, and being touched him deeply. Abhay was also attracted to post-modernist philosophies, which shaped his spiritual and philosophical outlook.

Abhay Singh’s unexpected spiritual transformation impact on his old friends

Abhay's change of heart from a hardworking engineering student to a spiritual vagabond surprised his former friends. His about-turn was so drastic that it shocked his closest friends. One of his former classmates, Gaurav Goyal, responded in an interview that Abhay was always the super student—a student who ended up in the top-ranked IIT Bombay buildings. Gaurav couldn't even imagine how a person who had come so far in school could choose to leave all this behind and seek spirituality.

IITian Baba's journey through relationships shaped by past conflicts

In addition to discussing his working life and spiritual journey, Abhay Singh also opened up about his personal life, particularly his experiences with relationships. In one of his old interviews, he revealed that he had been involved with a girl four years ago. However, due to a lack of mutual understanding between their parents, their relationship did not progress further. Abhay candidly admitted that having been in an environment where relationships were often marred by conflicts, it was challenging for him to comprehend what a healthy relationship entailed. He expressed a sense of gratitude for those past experiences, as they shaped his understanding and expectations. Nonetheless, he remains hopeful about finding a meaningful and harmonious relationship in the future, one built on mutual respect and understanding.
He expressed that, “When you’ve only witnessed negative examples of relationships, it’s difficult to understand how a healthy relationship works.” This insight sheds light on the emotional and psychological factors that can influence one’s personal life choices. Abhay’s experience highlights the challenges of navigating relationships when one’s perception of them is shaped by negative models.
