The coming-of-age comedy-drama, directed by Ashwath Marimuthu, has captivated audiences, particularly in Tamil Nadu, after the success of Ranganathan’s previous blockbuster ‘Love Today’.

According to the Sacnilk website, ‘Dragon’ earned Rs 6.5 crore on its opening day (Friday), followed by a significant jump on Saturday with Rs 10.8 crore. The momentum continued on Sunday, with early estimates indicating a Rs 11.50 crore collection, making it the film’s best day so far.

The Tamil version has performed exceptionally well, contributing Rs 5.4 crore on day one, Rs 9.05 crore on day two, and Rs 11.50 crore (estimated) on day three. Meanwhile, the Telugu-dubbed version has also found traction, earning Rs 1.1 crore, and Rs 1.75 crore, and registering an overall 37.06% occupancy on Sunday.

The film recorded an impressive 70.29% Tamil occupancy on February 23, with peak attendance during the afternoon and evening shows. In Telugu, the occupancy was highest in the evening, touching 42.14%.

‘Dragon’ follows the story of a young man whose desperate bid for success leads him into trouble, threatening his career, family, and relationships. The film stars Pradeep Ranganathan in the lead role, alongside Anupama Parameswaran, Kayadu Lohar, George Maryan, K. S. Ravikumar, Gautham Vasudev Menon, and Mysskin.

ETimes gave a rating of 4 stars out of 5 for ‘Dragon’ and our review reads, “The casting, too, is simply perfect. Pradeep Ranganathan as Raghavan aka Dragon makes you empathise with him even as he repeatedly makes wrong choices. Anupama as Keerthi too is as expressive as always. Behind all the jokes and silliness the film paints the situations with, there is something deeper to look at. Do we regret our decisions? What if we go back to a place we didn't want to be in the first place? Would we live a changed life? And a lot more questions that make the central plot firm and nuanced. The songs and the way they are woven into the narrative is also a great plus to the film.”

With strong word-of-mouth and increasing weekend collections, Dragon is set to continue its successful theatrical run in the coming days.

Meanwhile, reportedly the Pradeep Ranganathan starrer is set to start streaming on Netflix after the theatrical release as per OTT Play reports. Reports also say that the HD version of 'Dragon' has been leaked online within hours of theatrical release.

On the other hand, Pradeep's previous outing was the comedy romance film 'Love Today' which received magnificent reviews from the audiences and also turned out to be a superhit. The movie was remade in Bollywood as 'Loveyapa' which failed to get much traction from the audiences.
