While the highly awaited Suriya starrer ‘Kanguva’ is doing an underwhelming performance at the box office, the SK starrer biopic movie ‘Amaran’ shines bright.

According to the Sacnilk website, ‘Amaran’ has collected Rs 207.70 crores from India in 25 days, and on day 25 the movie has minted Rs 4.50 crores as per the early estimates by the website.

The week 3 collections for the SK starrer stand at Rs 25.95 crores with Rs 17.49 crores from Tamil Nadu, Rs 26 lakhs from Karnataka, Rs 55 lakhs from Hindi markets, Rs 7.65 crores from Telugu markets.
The occupancy rates for ‘Amaran’ are also impressive. The Sai Pallavi starrer had an overall 39.67 percent Tamil occupancy with morning shows at 31.75 percent, afternoon shows at 48.25 percent, evening shows at 49.99 percent, and night shows at 28.69 percent.

ETimes review for ‘Amaran’ reads, “It goes without saying that Sai Pallavi is good at emoting what her character’s feeling; she always is. In the film, she plays a Malayali from Trivandrum, and even her good emoting cannot make up for the bad Malayalam she speaks. As an actor, she isn't miscast for the part, but, considering how much Malayalam she speaks in the film, they could have focused more on perfecting her pronunciation. Even during a tearjerker moment, where Sai gives her all as a performer, her Malayalam pronunciation acts as an obvious distraction.”
On the other hand, Suriya’s ‘Kanguva’ is struggling at the box office to even reach Rs 70 crores. The movie has collected Rs 67.50 crores from India in 11 days and the day-wise performance is slowing down, indicating that ‘Kanguva’ will be finding it hard to hold the screens in the coming days.
