When Rani Mukerji spoke about her cold war with cousin Kajol: 'it just happened because of....'
Rani Mukerji and cousin Kajol starred in the blockbuster movie Kuch Kuch Hota Hai in 1998, that was Karan Johar's directorial debut. However for years, rumors were rife that the cousins don't get along, even though they were often spotted at family events. Finally, Rani decided to come out clean with the truth.

In an interview with Galatta India last year, Rani acknowledged past differences with her cousin but emphasized that these issues were resolved as there were no substantial reasons for discord.
The 'Hichki' actress mentioned that family is something that remains with an individual, emphasizing the importance of projecting a unified image to the world. She questioned the necessity of differences when there is no valid reason for them, referring to a specific situation where such differences were unjustified.
The actress added that there was no reason; it just happened because of miscommunication.
Previously, Rani had mentioned that she shares a closer bond with her sister Tanisha Mukerji than with Kajol. In a recent interview with Rani, Tanisha acknowledged their strong connection and reminisced about the emotional moment when she made the decision to reestablish a connection with her sister.
Kajol and Rani made an appearance together on Karan Johar's talk show, 'Koffee With Karan,' during which Rani shared that the passing of their fathers rekindled their bond. "In families, when you experience the loss of loved ones—I was particularly close to Kajol’s dad—during such challenging times, everyone tends to come closer," Rani expressed.
Wile on Rani Mukerji, she has worked with top filmmakers, including the legendary Yash Chopra. She has collaborated with his Yash Raj Films on several projects and is married to his son, Aditya Chopra.
However, did you know that Rani once revealed a funny story about how Yash Chopra locked her parents in his office? Yes. you read that right! In an old interview with News 18, Rani shared the incident, and it was because she was refusing every film offer that came to her.
After the failure of Mujhse Dosti Karoge, Rani reportedly stopped accepting movie offers. She recalled how her mother thought she was acting irrationally, as she kept turning down opportunities. During that time, Rani became withdrawn at home and began making her own decisions.
After facing criticism from film critics and magazines, Mukerji had started to believe her career was over, but she didn’t give up. Instead, she decided to pursue roles she truly believed in. When Saathiya came along, Rani initially refused the offer, but Yash Chopra persuaded her by locking her parents in his office until she agreed to take the role. She is grateful for his persistence.

Meanwhile, Rani has worked in several Yash Chopra films, including Veer Zaara with Shah Rukh Khan and Preity Zinta, Mujhse Dosti Karoge, and Saathiya, which revitalized her career. Yash Raj Films, founded by Chopra, continues to produce iconic films and has launched the YRF SpyVerse, which includes Shah Rukh’s Pathaan, Salman’s Tiger, and Hrithik’s War franchises.
