Ameesha Patel on replacing Priyanka Chopra in Humraaz and being paid more than Bobby Deol, Akshaye Khanna: 'There is nothing I regret'

Ameesha Patel, who is known for films like Kaho Naa... Pyaar Hai and Gadar: Ek Prem Katha, recently opened up about her journey in the industry. In an interview with Bollywood Bubble, she shared her thoughts on actors being replaced in films and revealed that she had replaced Priyanka Chopra in Humraaz, adding that she has no regrets about the way her career has shaped up.
Ameesha shared her perspective on actors being replaced in the industry, stating that it is not solely determined by external factors. She believes that audiences do not write off actors but instead focus on whether a film is good or bad. According to her, success in the industry ultimately depends on landing the right projects, as good cinema is what truly matters. She also acknowledged that she has been in a similar position, having replaced someone in a film herself.
She added, “In fact, even in Humraaz, I replaced Priyanka Chopra and things like that. So, it all works out in the end, you know—life comes full circle. And life is a great leveller. I truly believe that. I have been part of some of the biggest, most iconic films in the industry, so what more can I ask for? You know, there is nothing I regret.”

When asked if she was the highest-paid actor in Humraaz, Ameesha responded, “Well, that’s what I heard, but I don’t want to go into that because that was not the criteria to which I agreed to do the film. I didn’t even know what I was going to charge or what I was going to be paid. When I heard the subject, I heard it completely organically and candidly as an actor—whether I wanted to be part of the film or not.”
Ameesha expressed her gratitude for being part of Humraaz, highlighting the opportunity to work with Venus Films and directors Abbas-Mustan. She praised the film’s strong script, her talented co-actors Bobby Deol and Akshaye Khanna, Himesh Reshammiya’s memorable music, and the stunning locations. She emphasized that the paycheck was never her priority, as she was more focused on the overall experience of being part of such a prestigious project.

Ameesha Patel recently made a successful comeback with Gadar 2 alongside Sunny Deol. The Anil Sharma directorial went on to become an all-time blockbuster.
