DU Election 2024 Highlights: Vote counting to begin soon, check details here

DU Election 2024 Highlights: The Delhi University Students' Union (DUSU) elections are just around the corner, with students gearing up to cast their votes and help shape the leadership of one of the country’s most prestigious student unions. Special provisions have been made for first-year students who have not yet received their identity cards, ensuring they can still exercise their right to vote. Day class students will vote between 8:30 AM and 1 PM, while evening class students will cast their votes between 3 PM and 7:30 PM.

On Thursday, the Delhi High Court halted the counting of DUSU election votes until all defacement materials, including posters, hoardings, and graffiti, are removed and public property is restored. A bench of Chief Justice-designate Manmohan and Justice Tushar Rao Gedela ruled that while the election process may proceed, the counting will not take place until the court is satisfied that the defacement has been addressed. According to PTI, the vote counting was initially scheduled for Saturday.

The election campaign officially ended at 8:00 AM on September 26, 2024. All campaign activities, including canvassing by candidates and their supporters, were discontinued in line with the code of conduct established by the election commission. This year, 21 candidates are contesting across the four central panel positions. Keep following The Times of India Blog for further updates!
