KALYAN: The Kalyan-Dombivli Municipal Corporation (KDMC), amid heavy security using more than 100 policemen, demolished 22 structures out of the 25 structures obstructing the 40 feet DP plan road in the sensitive area of
Kalyan on Saturday. During this action, KDMC first shifted 250 buffaloes present in 22 structures, mostly buffalo tabelas, to a safe place and then carried out the demolition action.
The action was initiated on the order of KDMC Commissioner Dr Indurani Jakhar on Saturday morning and ended in the evening. The action started from Durgadi Fort of Kalyan and ended near Tabela Chai.
To initiate action, since the area where the action was taken is known as a sensitive area, deputy municipal commissioner Prasad Borkar had deployed all the nearby ward officers and about 40 ward office employees on the field for the action so that the demolition action could be carried out without any interruption amidst heavy police deployment.
During this, some people tried to oppose the action, but the police removed them from the spot.
Tushar Sonawane, Ward Officer, said, "By late evening, KDMC completely razed 22 of the 25 structures, mostly buffalo sheds, to the ground by running a bulldozer. Further action will be taken against 3 sheds. We have instructed the owners of these tabelas to remove 100 buffaloes from there to a safe place."
