Nine establishments face music for noise pollution
Panaji: Goa police registered cases against nine establishments in North Goa in connection with alleged noise pollution since Oct 2024. Police stations have been directed to keep a strict vigil in the coastal belt to act against the violators.
Superintendent of police (SP) Akshat Kaushal said North Goa district police has taken strict action against noise pollution. From Oct onwards, 11 cases were registered against various establishments for violations under the Noise Pollution Act and the Environment Protection Act.
In strict compliance with the directions issued by the high court of Bombay at Goa regarding noise pollution, Goa police have been constantly taking action against violators, Kaushal said.
“All police stations have been directed to maintain strict vigilance on establishments to ensure that no loud music is played beyond 10pm. Any violations of these directives are met with firm legal action, with cases being booked against offenders under the relevant provisions of the law,” Kaushal said. “The establishments against whom action has been taken include Sanngra Spanish Tapas and Music, Mazalwaddo-Anjuna, Noah Goa Restaurant, Vagator, Diaz Pool Club and Bar-Anjuna, Hotel ‘W’ Goa-Vagator, Salud-Vagator, HillTop-Vagator, Club Nine Bar, Vagator (two cases), Thalassa-Vaddy Siolim, and Thalassa Cliff-Vagator.”
In some of these cases, Goa police have seized the music equipment of the establishments, SP North said.
